Irena Bardhi Shkodra is a licensed Ontario Certified Teacher and Montessori educator with over thirty years of teaching experience. She specializes in working with students with ADHD, autism, and dyslexia, applying her Orton-Gillingham training to support all learners.
Irena opened her first Mathnasium centre ten years ago and continues to guide students with her deep passion for teaching. She believes every child can learn with the right approach. Outside of work, she enjoys reading philosophy and history, crafting, and exploring the power of math education.
Paul Avery holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Actuarial Mathematics from the University of Manitoba. He has grown with Mathnasium, starting as an instructor and now serving as Centre Director.
Paul loves math because there is always more to learn and master. He enjoys sharing this passion through Mathnasium’s personalized approach, helping students build both skills and confidence. Known for his clever math puns and love of baking, Paul creates a warm, engaging environment where students feel encouraged to overcome math anxiety and thrive.
Gjon Shkodra brings over a decade of experience to Mathnasium, where he combines his academic background in spatial geography with a talent for building welcoming learning environments. He has been with Mathnasium since 2014 and has helped many students succeed, including those with ADHD and other learning needs.
Gjon believes in the power of patience, fun, and adaptability to engage students—even those who find math intimidating. He values how dynamic Mathnasium Learning Plans are in growing student confidence and interest in the subject.
Iano is a fourth-year undergraduate student at Sheridan Trafalgar College studying Math and Computer Science. He hopes to pursue a career in research, using computer modeling and mathematics to solve complex problems.
Iano enjoys teaching at Mathnasium because of its supportive environment and collaborative teaching approach. He believes math is logical, creative, and fun—like solving puzzles. In his free time, he enjoys programming and playing video games, always looking for ways to bring real-world applications into his tutoring sessions.
Jonathan studies biology and chemistry at the University of Toronto and brings a strong passion for math education to the Mathnasium team. He enjoys playing the piano and takes pride in helping students grow academically.
Jonathan believes building strong math skills early creates lasting confidence. His patient, encouraging approach helps students feel supported as they tackle challenges. Whether reinforcing fundamentals or advancing to new topics, Jonathan ensures that every student feels successful and motivated to learn.
Natasha is studying Environmental Science. She has worked at our centre for over a year, and her favourite thing about teaching here is being able to notice when a concept finally “clicks” with students and see their confidence grow!
Het is pursuing a BSc in Computer Science at the University of Toronto. He enjoys programming, photography, and working on new start-up projects. Het has loved solving math problems growing up and looks forward to sharing his skills with all the other students!

Fazeela Is working towards a BA in Economics and BA in Political Science. She loves baking, playing sports, and most importantly having fun!! Fazeela loves math because there is always a right answer to work towards.

Rohan is currently in his final year of highschool, working to enroll in a program for Chemical Engineering. He enjoys cooking and baking, and practices archery on the side. Rohan loves the problem-solving aspect of math, and how everything falls into place at the very end of a complicated problem.
I love Mathnasium because I adore seeing students learn and grow, building those pathways to understand math just as I did when I was their age!
Michael holds a master’s degree in mathematics. He has been passionate about math since high school. Michael also loves music too!

Trinity is currently in her final year of high school, and dreams of studying physics in University. Trinity loves math because there are many ways to solve a problem, and she loves trying new ways to get an answer.

Iris is a criminology student at the University of Toronto with a strong passion for math and teaching. She loves supporting students through patience, clear explanations, and enjoys the interactive engagement with them. Iris plays her flute in her free time.
