Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Muz

Instructor

I have been studying mathematics for more than 25 years and holds a doctorate in mathematics, with a specialization in statistics. I have spent over 20 years tutoring students at every level, from elementary and high school mathematics to university-level calculus and statistics. My teaching experience also includes working at a Sylvan Learning Centre.

I prefer to teach mathematics as a discussion, creating a calm and relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems. I believe strongly in the importance of fundamentals and often explains the same idea in several different ways, approaching a problem from different directions until a student finds the perspective that makes sense to them. Above all, I believe it is his job to show students that mathematics is understandable, approachable, and ultimately doable.

I see mathematics as a continuum of knowledge passed from one generation to the next. Having benefited from many great teachers myself, I consider teaching students the opportunity to contribute to that tradition and help the next generation move forward.

Outside of mathematics, I enjoy movies and reading.

I’m a Chemical Biology major at McMaster University with a passion for working with kids. I’ve always loved helping others learn and watching that “aha!” moment when something finally clicks. Outside of school and Mathnasium, you’ll usually find me dancing, volunteering, cooking, and going on adventures with family and friends. What I love most about Mathnasium is getting to make learning feel fun, encouraging, and rewarding. I love helping students build not only their math skills, but also the confidence to believe that they can figure things out!

I also enjoy reading, science, and learning everything there is to possibly learn about the world. I love teaching at Mathnasium because it brings me joy to help others find passion in their math studies. The Mathnasium team is such an amazing community!

Hi, I'm Joshua! I'm currently studying engineering at York University. I've always loved math because it provides a  framework to understand the world around us. Numbers are an engineer's best friend, and having a strong mathematical foundation is exactly what has helped me when learning complex mathematics like linear algebra, polar coordinates, complex numbers and more. I am excited to share my knowledge with students at Mathnasium and help them on their mathematics journey. When I'm not hitting the books, you can usually find me playing my guitar. I've been playing for 10 years now and love learning new songs!

Viraat

Instructor

Hi! I’m Viraat, a high-school senior with a strong interest in mathematics, engineering, technology, and problem-solving. I have experience with computer engineering, circuits, Arduino, architectural design using Revit and Twinmotion and Manufacturing processes. I love taking on challenging problems and finding creative ways to solve them.

I’m proud to have recently earned a University of Waterloo Certificate of Achievement for the Mathematics Problem Solving Course, which strengthened my problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

What I love most about teaching at Mathnasium of Erin Mills is helping young students build confidence in math. Watching them understand a concept that once seemed difficult gives me loads of satisfaction. I enjoy making math approachable, engaging, and even a little fun!

Layan

Instructor

I’m a second-year student at McMaster University studying Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour! Beyond my academic identity, I’m someone who loves exploring new interests and learning new things. In my free time, you’ll usually find me reading, making art, watching a show, playing video games, or attempting to teach myself the violin. I’m also someone who loves travelling and discovering new places, and exploring more of the world.

My connection to Mathnasium is a little personal because I was once in the student's seat myself! I attended Mathnasium when I was younger and needed some extra help with math, so I understand how intimidating or frustrating it can feel when something just does not click. Now, I want to use that experience to help students feel more confident in their own abilities. I believe that making mistakes is an important part of learning, and I want students to feel comfortable facing those mistakes rather than feeling ashamed of them. Sometimes, building a student's confidence can be just as important as teaching them the math itself. My goal is to make math feel less intimidating, be patient with students, and hopefully help them discover that math can be something to enjoy rather than something to fear.

I love making mathematics easier to understand and less intimidating for students. With an academic background in Health Science and Music, along with experience teaching Mathematics, ESL, piano, and music theory, I bring creativity, patience, and a passion for problem-solving to every session. My teaching approach focuses on helping students understand the “why” behind their answers, develop effective strategies, and become confident, independent learners.

I hold an RBT certification and am continuing my professional development through studies in Early Childhood Education, ADHD specialization, and mathematics. I am passionate about supporting learners with diverse learning needs and creating an encouraging environment where every student can thrive. At Mathnasium, my goal is to help students discover that math is something they can understand, master, and enjoy!
