Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Raydon

Instructor

Raydon is currently studying at BCIT with aspirations of becoming an architect. A former Mathnasium student, he spent four years building his skills and now enjoys helping others do the same. He finds it rewarding to witness the moment when a student grasps a difficult concept.

Outside of Mathnasium, Raydon enjoys photography, playing soccer and hockey, and spending time on the golf course. His connection to the Richmond community and passion for design influence his teaching, making math relevant and exciting for the students he supports.

Jon

Instructor

Jon is a senior at Richmond High Secondary and part of the IB Diploma Programme. With a long-standing interest in mathematics, he has participated in contests like the Euclid and the AMC. Jon enjoys helping students work through problems step by step and encourages a deeper understanding of math concepts. He brings enthusiasm and patience to every session.

When not teaching, he enjoys playing badminton, basketball, and volleyball, and volunteers as a badminton instructor at the local community centre.

Lily

Instructor

Lily is a Psychology major at the University of British Columbia. Originally from Saigon, Vietnam, she found her passion for math in Grade 5 when she attended Mathnasium. She enjoys helping children discover new ways to understand math, believing that it is a universal language that can connect learners from all backgrounds.

Outside of the classroom, Lily spends her time dancing, playing badminton, and exploring photography. She is committed to creating a fun and supportive learning environment that helps students build confidence.

Andrea

Instructor

Andrea is a second-year student in the Pharmaceutical Sciences programme at UBC. She grew up in Hong Kong and once found math intimidating, but thanks to supportive teachers, her outlook changed.

Today, she uses that experience to help Mathnasium students feel more confident in their abilities. Andrea believes that anyone can succeed in math with the right guidance and encouragement. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys drawing, painting, working out, and spending time with the neighbourhood cats she meets during her walks.

Theresa

Instructor
Theresa is currently a student at the University of British Columbia where she's pursuing a degree in a combined major of Computer Science, and Microbiology and Immunology. This multidisciplinary program allows her to integrate her passions for technology and healthcare as she works towards her goal of improving medical technology. She also enjoys working with kids and helping them along their education journey. In her free time, Theresa enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, video games, snowboarding, and spending time with her friends, family and dog.

Terry

Instructor
Terry is currently studying Mathematics at the University of British Columbia. During high school, Terry was surrounded by kind, supportive teachers who helped him achieve his academic goals. He wishes to do the same for the children at Mathnasium, as he believes teachers have a large impact on a student's attitude towards learning. So, Terry's mission at Mathnasium is to do his best in teaching math in a fun and interesting way, that also makes sense for his students.

Thaddaeus

Instructor
Thaddaeus was born and raised in Richmond, BC. He has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Victoria where he studied Computer Science. While earning his degree, Thaddaeus spent several years building skills in coding and mathematics. He loves working with numbers, problem-solving and looking for patterns in data. He enjoys working at Mathnasium because he can share the knowledge that he has acquired and guide students along their own journey in math. Growing up, he played many sports, his favourite one being basketball. In his spare time, Thaddaeus likes playing chess, going for runs and rock climbing!

Kellie

Instructor
Kellie is a senior at Hugh Boyd Secondary School planning to pursue computer science and business. From helping out students at school with math homework to finding a passion for teaching kids at Mathnasium, she loves finding unique ways to teach and visualize math concepts. However, her passion for teaching doesn't end here: she runs a business education program across Greater Vancouver and teaches public speaking to students in her club. You can also find her learning new tricks to programming, debating at BC's Youth Parliament, or even dozing off to classical music

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
