Pi Day at Mathnasium Glasgow South: Learning About π Through Fun and Interactive Activities
Students at Mathnasium Glasgow South celebrated Pi Day with hands-on activities exploring π, real-world maths applications, and a fun pie-throwing finale!
Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend my very first Mathnasium Convention — and this year, it was hosted in the vibrant city of Seattle, Washington. This years theme was "Climbing Higher Together"
It was a truly inspiring experience to be surrounded by passionate franchise owners, educational leaders, and the brilliant minds behind the Mathnasium Method. The theme of this year's convention was “Climb Higher Together,” and that spirit was present in every conversation, workshop, and shared moment.
One of the most memorable highlights was getting to meet Larry Martinek himself — the creator and educational visionary behind Mathnasium. His warmth, wisdom, and dedication to helping children succeed in maths were truly moving. His approach to teaching has transformed the way thousands of children around the world understand maths — and it was an honour to meet the man whose ideas we bring to life every day at our own centre.
Throughout the week, I connected with some of the most successful and innovative Mathnasium centre owners from across the globe. From sharing ideas to seeing what’s possible when passionate people lead with purpose, I returned to Glasgow energised and full of fresh perspectives.
What’s Next for Our Centre?
Coming out of this experience, I’m thrilled to share that we’ll be launching some exciting new developments over the coming weeks, including:
1. Online Learning Launching in August
We’re expanding our reach! Starting this August, families will have the flexibility to choose between in-centre learning or online sessions — the same great instructors and the same Mathnasium Method, delivered in a format that works best for you.
2. Back-to-School Campaign
We’re also preparing for our Back-to-School campaign, designed to help students get a strong head start in the new academic year — whether they need to catch up, keep up, or get ahead.
3. Enhanced STEM Sessions & New Programme Offerings
Thanks to the fantastic leadership of our team (a big shoutout to Philip, Rumana, Saad, Matthew, Anisa & Laura for holding the fort and making our STEM sessions so engaging while I was away!), we’re exploring even more enriching content to keep learning fun and effective.
A Global Community with a Local Mission
What struck me most in Seattle was the sense of global connection — the knowledge that we’re part of something much bigger. Mathnasium centres across continents are all working toward the same mission: to make maths make sense for every child. Meeting centre owners from across the world reminded me that while each centre is unique, we’re all united by a shared purpose and passion.
I can’t wait to bring this inspiration into our centre here in Glasgow — and I’m so excited for what’s ahead.
Let’s climb higher, together.
