What do you do and what is the Mathnasium Method™?

What ages and year groups do you support?
We support children from Reception all the way through to Year 11 for their GCSEs. Our centre is designed to support both primary and secondary school students. Because our instruction is tailored to the individual, we can help a 5-year-old just starting to explore numbers just as effectively as a teenager preparing for their Higher Tier GCSE papers.
How do you know what my child specifically needs?
Every child’s journey at Mathnasium of Winchester starts with a comprehensive assessment. This isn’t a high-pressure pass or fail school test. It’s a diagnostic tool that allows us to see exactly where your child’s strengths are and where the gaps are.
From this, we create a bespoke Learning Plan. Your child only works on what they need to learn, which ensures no time is wasted and they stay motivated.
My child is already good at maths. Is this for them?
Absolutely. We have many students from across Winchester and the surrounding Hampshire area who come to us because they have a real passion for the subject and want to go further. If your child has a natural flair for maths, we provide the additional challenge they crave to keep their momentum going. We can move them ahead of the curriculum by introducing advanced concepts and logical puzzles that keep them excited and engaged with their learning.
Can you help with SATs, 11+ or GCSE prep?
Yes. While we focus on long-term understanding, we are very successful in helping students prepare for major academic milestones.
Do you give even more homework?
The short answer is no. We know parents are busy juggling sports, music lessons, and family time. All Mathnasium work is done in the centre under the guidance of our instructors. We can even set aside time during a session to help your child with their current school homework, which helps turn homework time at your house into a stress-free experience.
