📊 SBAC Math Results Are In — How Did Your Child Do?

Back in May, students across Connecticut took the Smarter Balanced Math Assessment (SBAC), and parents should have received results in the mail over the last few weeks.

Here’s how 5th graders performed locally:
✅ North Haven — 71% met or exceeded expectations
✅ Woodbridge — 69%
✅ Orange — 62%

➖ Bethany — 57%
➖ Milford — 56%
➖ Shelton — 52%
➖ Seymour — 51%

⚠️ West Haven — 33%
⚠️ Hamden — 32%
⚠️ Stratford — 28%
⚠️ New Haven — 13%

Why does this matter? Because by the end of 5th grade, some of the most advanced students will be placed into pre-algebra in 6th grade. And at the end of 6th grade, many students transition into middle school, making readiness at this stage critical for long-term success.

Your child’s SBAC report breaks down into 4 levels:
🔴 Level 1 — Not meeting grade level standards
🟠 Level 2 — Approaching grade level standards
🟢 Level 3 — Meeting grade level standards
🔵 Level 4 — Exceeding grade level standards
