In the 1990’s, education industry pioneers Peter Markovitz and David Ullendorff recognized that, to truly be successful in school and in life, students need a solid understanding of mathematics. There was a vast disconnect, though, between students’ learning skills and the math curriculum they were taught in school.
To address that gap, they founded Mathnasium — a math-only learning center committed to providing the world’s best instruction. Their goal: teach children how to think, with the skills to succeed in math and the confidence to achieve their academic potential.
After an exhaustive search, they found the perfect person to help them achieve their vision: Larry Martinek, a beloved educator, teacher trainer, and curriculum consultant. Larry and Mathnasium’s expert team spent years refining the most powerful teaching methods and materials into the comprehensive, industry-leading Mathnasium Method™.
The trio opened the first Mathnasium Learning Center in Los Angeles in late 2002 and began franchising in 2003. The extraordinary dedication of Mathnasium’s local center owners and staff, combined with Mathnasium’s child-centered approach, proved wildly successful. Mathnasium has become an award-winning, world-class math education company, and global demand for our service has soared.
Since our inception, Mathnasium has been trusted by over a million parents in neighborhood learning centers on five continents.
My daughter really enjoys the engaging lessons and the reward system built into mastery of skills. She never complains of having to go and actually think it’s a lot of fun!
My 9 year old absolutely loves going to Mathnasium and usually goes 3-4x a week with no coaxing. Mr Rob and everyone one who works there has always made him feel comfortable and he would even call it fun! He is regularly meeting his goals and his little brother can’t wait to sign up.
My children have been attending Mathnasium of Yorktown South for two months, and they have never been more excited about math. The tutors are knowledgeable, the owner is very professional and they make learning fun! I highly recommend this program to keep kids excited about learning and engaged in math.
My kids are going to Morton mathenism branch. Mr. SUNNY is making sure of providing quality math teaching at this branch. I recommend all the parents to enroll their kids who are struggling in math to get best results.
My teenage daughter absolutely loves the tutors here! You can tell they take the time to truly help her and although she is not needing much tutoring anymore she continues to want to come as they keep her advanced in her class. The owner Sonny is super profesional and helpful as well!
Really appreciate the setup. It’s easy and convenient to schedule, almost feels like drop-in tutoring, which helps a lot when you have a packed schedule. The method seems to be working well, and I’ve noticed good progress. Thanks for providing such a helpful and structured learning environment!

We have loved sending our daughters to Mathnasium. They have both improved tremendously and have started to LOVE math. Their grades at school also reflect a clear understanding which has been greatly influenced by their Mathnasium tutoring. Randy and all of the staff at Mathnasium are awesome!
Our son has been coming to this Mathnasium for years. He loved math and comes in to stay ahead and continue to learn. Julie and the team are always accommodating, helpful, and friendly. It is a great environment for kids to learn.
My son has benefited from the individualized math tutoring here. He says they teach well, and he’s actually learning quickly because of it. I would recommend Mathnasium if your child needs extra support in math.
