At Mathnasium of Belsize Park, our specially trained instructors use the Mathnasium Method™ to help children move from uncertainty to confidence in maths. This proprietary teaching approach is built on personalised learning plans and draws on mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques, adapting to how each child thinks, not the other way around.
Belsize Park is home to bilingual, international and independent schools with their own curricula and entry requirements. The Mathnasium Method™ builds mathematical understanding that travels across any syllabus or assessment format.
Our caring, specially trained instructors work with children from Reception through to GCSE at our centre on England's Lane and online via Mathnasium@home. Each child's personalised learning plan drives every session, so no two children are working through the same material unless it happens to be exactly what they each need.
Families in NW3 come to us with a mix of goals: 7+ and 11+ preparation, GCSE support and maths enrichment for children who want to go further. Our instructors are experienced across all of these.
Every child at Mathnasium of Belsize Park begins with a diagnostic assessment that maps what they know, what they've missed and what they're ready to learn next. From there, we build a personalised learning plan with a clear, logical progression.
Children who understand maths, rather than simply remembering steps, develop a confidence that shows up in class, in assessments and well beyond school.

Mathnasium of Belsize Park works with children from Reception through to GCSE: children aged 4 to 16, covering all Key Stages from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to KS4.
The NW3 area has one of the most varied educational landscapes in London, from bilingual and international schools following French, American and IB curricula to highly regarded British independent schools with their own entry processes. We work with children across all of these settings, building the mathematical foundations that hold up whatever the school or the syllabus.
Our instructors cover the full range of primary and secondary maths: number, fractions, decimals and percentages, algebra, geometry, ratio and proportion, statistics, trigonometry and probability, across all Key Stages from KS1 through to KS4.
Sessions are shaped entirely by each child’s personalised learning plan, so the focus is always on what that student needs.
Private tutoring tends to be reactive, shaped by whatever the child needs help with that particular week.
Mathnasium of Belsize Park takes a different, structured approach from the start. Every student receives and follows a personalised learning plan, tailored to their learning style and needs.
Our instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™ , used across 1,200+ centres worldwide, so sessions are consistent, structured and cumulative. Progress builds rather than repeats. And because sessions take place in a supportive small-group environment, children benefit from learning alongside peers while still receiving instruction that is entirely personalised to them.
We use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach, and not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Our approach combines personalised learning plans with proven teaching techniques to promote deep understanding over memorization. That understanding is what lets them transfer skills to new problems, including the kinds of unfamiliar questions that entrance exams and GCSE papers are specifically designed to include.
Our instructors combine mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques, guided by each child’s personalised learning plan. This makes the approach particularly well-suited to Belsize Park, where children may be working within different national curricula or preparing for assessments that look very different from one family to the next.
We work with children of all skill levels. In Belsize Park, a significant proportion of the children we see are already performing well at school and coming to us to go further: to deepen their problem-solving, prepare for a competitive school entry, or stay ahead in a fast-moving academic environment.
For students who are ready to get ahead, we extend their learning beyond the standard curriculum, working on the reasoning and accuracy that selective assessments and high-achieving school environments reward.
For students who are finding maths hard, we identify exactly where their understanding has slipped and rebuild from that point, step by step, so that progress is real rather than surface-level.
Yes! Mathnasium of Belsize Park supports students preparing for 7+ and 11+ entrance assessments for independent schools in and around the NW3 area.
We recommend starting 11+ preparation in Year 4 or early Year 5. For 7+ entry, the timeline is naturally shorter, and we build a programme around what the child needs to cover before their assessment date.
Yes, our instructors work with Year 10 and Year 11 students on personalised GCSE preparation plans built around their current level, target grade and the specific topics that need the most work. We cover the full GCSE maths curriculum across both Foundation and Higher tiers: number, algebra, geometry, ratio, probability and statistics.
For students in independent or selective secondary schools where the expectation is a grade 7, 8 or 9, we help them reach that standard with a targeted plan that uses their time efficiently and builds the depth of understanding that Higher tier questions demand.
Yes. We support Year 6 children preparing for their KS2 SATs maths papers, working through both the Arithmetic and Reasoning components with a personalised plan focused on each child's specific areas of difficulty. We also support Year 4 children ahead of the Multiplication Tables Check.
Yes. Mathnasium@Home provides live, face-to-face online sessions delivered in real time by our specially trained instructors.
Children follow the same personalised learning plan online as they would in centre, so the quality and structure of the support is identical. It’s a convenient option for families who travel frequently or whose schedule doesn’t always allow for in-centre sessions.
Yes! Many families at Mathnasium of Belsize Park choose a hybrid approach, splitting sessions between our centre on England's Lane and online through Mathnasium@home.
This approach works well for families managing after-school clubs, travel or unpredictable schedules, since a missed in-centre slot can often be picked up online instead. Whichever format a session takes, it follows the same personalised learning plan and is delivered by the same specially trained instructor, so your child's progress stays consistent either way.
Mathnasium of Belsize Park operates on a flat monthly membership fee.
After the diagnostic assessment, we will recommend a session schedule based on your child’s personalised learning plan and goals. Most children attend two to three sessions per week.
Use the Contact Us button on this page, call 0203 997 3441, text 07586 599921 or email [email protected]. We’ll arrange an initial session at a convenient time.
After the assessment, we walk you through the results and the personalised learning plan we have built for your child, answer any questions, and agree the next steps before their first session.
