With this approach, personalised learning plans and proven teaching techniques come together, so we can meet each child exactly where they are on their maths journey and guide them forward at the right pace.
We focus on building the foundation for lasting maths mastery, including the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that carry through every stage of school.
Our specially trained instructors use a variety of proven mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written teaching techniques to teach in the way that works best for each child.
We work with students from Reception through to GCSE at our centre on the High Street in King's Heath, or online via Mathnasium@home, in a supportive and fun learning environment where each child receives face-to-face maths support guided by their own personalised learning plan.
Every child at Mathnasium of King's Heath begins their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment, which tells us what they already know, where the knowledge gaps are and how they approach maths.
From there, we build their personalised learning plan that closes those gaps in the right order, so each new topic sits on solid ground rather than papering over what came before.

Harriet McDaid
Lead Instructor
Hi i’m Harriet and I have a passion for aviation, I am a Flight sergeant in the Royal Air Force Air Cadets and also a member of Explorer Scouts, volunteering as a Young leader for Cub Scouts. Maths has always been my favourite subject but I believe that the teacher you have changes your outlook on it and that’s why I became a tutor, to encourage problem solving and improve confidence of young people when it comes to maths. One day I hope to work for an airline in air traffic control.
Tahreem
Instructor
My name is Tahreem and I'm currently studying A-level Maths, Physics, and Computing, with the goal of pursuing Computer Science at university. Throughout secondary school, maths was one of my weaker subjects, and I didn’t enjoy it - but once I began the GCSE course here at Mathnasium, that all changed. Maths has since become one of my favourite and strongest subjects. I love tutoring children and showing them that maths can be fun and rewarding, while helping them build the confidence to unlock their full potential.
Manahil Ajaz
Instructor
Passionate about making maths engaging and accessible, I strive to help students build confidence and develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. With a strong enthusiasm for problem-solving and logical thinking, I aim to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students can tackle challenges with curiosity and perseverance. Whether reinforcing foundational skills or exploring more advanced topics, I enjoy guiding students to unlock their potential and discover the joy in mathematics.
Kawthar Karim

Hi, I'm Kawthar!
I’m a second-year AI and Computer Science student with a strong interest in coding and problem-solving, especially in maths-related projects. Recently, I even built a custom calculator in Java.
I’ve been tutoring maths for over two and a half years, and I genuinely enjoy helping young pupils build confidence and achieve their goals. My approach is patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s needs.
Outside of tutoring, I stay active by running and playing badminton. I love anything fashion related so I enjoy designing unique dresses and outfits in my free time.

King's Heath families come to us for different reasons and goals, some looking for early maths help and others focused on getting ahead or preparing for their GCSEs. Whatever your child's maths goal, we have a programme to fit.
Our instructors support children across the full primary and secondary maths curriculum, from number, fractions, decimals and percentages through to algebra, ratio, geometry and statistics, at every level from KS1 through to KS4.
Because each child follows their own personalised learning plan, a Year 3 child working on times tables and a Year 11 child preparing for GCSE will each get exactly the focus they need.
Private tutors usually provide temporary support focused on the topics the student is struggling with or the goal they are trying to achieve.
Mathnasium focuses on (re)building solid foundational skills and helping the student excel on their maths journey, regardless of their current skill level.
The student's Mathnasium experience begins with a diagnostic assessment, so their learning can follow a personalised plan shaped around their own knowledge gaps and goals. Our instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™, a structured, proven teaching approach used across more than 1,300 centres worldwide, so progress builds steadily rather than depending on what came up that week.
Sessions take place in a supportive and fun learning environment, where children receive face-to-face maths support and build confidence alongside their peers.

Tuition at Mathnasium of King's Heath is priced as a flat monthly membership fee rather than a per-session rate, much like a gym membership. Most children get the best results attending two to three sessions a week.
