Hillary graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a teaching certificate for grades 7–12. She’s passionate about educational equity and dreams of starting a school or organization that ensures every student has the opportunity to succeed. At Mathnasium, she brings warmth, skill, and a commitment to student growth.
In her free time, Hillary enjoys spending time with her dog and family, traveling, being in nature, and exploring new crafts. Her favorite math joke? “What do you call an angle that’s gone through the garbage disposal? A wrecked-angle!”
Blanca joined Mathnasium first as a student in 8th grade and now returns as an instructor! She graduated in 2023 from the Christian School at Castle Hills with 31 college credits from Colorado Christian University and is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology with hopes of becoming a counselor.
Outside of math, Blanca enjoys drawing, swimming, music, and watching cooking shows, superhero movies, and animal documentaries. She’s also a major fan of The Lion King. Her favorite math joke is: “What did the right side of the number line say to the left side? ‘Why are you always so negative?!’”
I am a college student at Northwest Vista College studying computer science. My goal is to someday work in the tech industry. Some of my favorite things to do are read and exercise, especially lifting weights. I also enjoy watching reality TV, superhero movies, and really anything that has action and mystery.
Favorite #: My favorite number is 3 because I grew up in a family with 3 children, and that's why I think the best things come in 3s.
Favorite Math Joke: What do you call a friend who likes math? An alge-bro.
I love Mathnasium because it makes my day when a student finally understands a concept, and you can see the joy on their face when that lightbulb goes off in their head.
My name is Christian Samarripa, and I was born and raised here in San Antonio, Texas. I graduated from UTSA in 2021 with a BA in Mathematics with a goal to become a coach/math teacher. As the years went on, I learned a lot about myself and where I really wanted to go with my future career. I decided I wanted to go more into Kinesiology (Sports Medicine), so I decided to get my second BA at UTSA in 2023. I'm currently on pace to graduate in the Fall of 2026.
Besides going to school. I love being with friends and family, playing video games or different kinds of sports like baseball, basketball, or bowling. I like to collect different types of things, from sports cards, vintage video games, or Stitch items.
Favorite Number: My favorite number is 13, because it was the date I was born on, but to me it just brings good luck. Also, my favorite player on the Atlanta Braves wears #13 who plays the position I played grown up.
Favorite Math Joke: What do you call friends who love math? Algebros!
I love Mathnasium because it's helped me grow as a person, with all the relationships I have built with the staff, students, and parents over the years. Everyone who has been a part of my Mathnasium journey has been supportive of me, so I can reach my goals in life as well. When I first started, I thought it was going to be a simple tutoring job that would come and go. Little did I know that almost 4 years later, it would be an important part of my life.
Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
