Angus

Angus is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with his bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Following his undergrad studies, he joined Mathnasium and realized his lifelong passion for math extended to teaching. He currently works in various Classroom Aide roles during school hours, tutors students of all ages at Mathnasium, and attends California State University, Los Angeles — all in pursuit of his teaching credential and his dream of becoming a math teacher.

As an aspiring teacher, Angus is known for his attention to detail and sense of humor, which helps him connect with his students and build their confidence. In his spare time, Angus loves to play various musical instruments, spend quality time with his loved ones, and play pinball.

Elva

Elva is a junior at the Girls' Academic Leadership Academy in Los Angeles and is passionate about helping students grow in math. She enjoys getting to know learners and supporting them as they build confidence and develop problem-solving skills. 

Her enthusiasm for both learning and teaching math shines through in every session. Outside of Mathnasium, Elva enjoys reading, painting, and watching movies.

Michelle

Hi, my name is Michelle. I’m planning on majoring in Electrical Engineering, and I absolutely love helping others. I enjoy making math seem easy and fun! Outside of math, I like spending my time with friends, watching movies, and playing volleyball.

Ruben

My name is Ruben. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I attended California State University Northridge and majored in mathematics. Outside of math, my other passions are running, playing chess, and reading.

Jonathan

Jonathan is a student at Beverly Hills High School with a strong passion for mathematics. He enjoys working through challenging problems, exploring different ways to approach math, and helping others build confidence in their own abilities. Jonathan loves sharing his enthusiasm for math with students and looks forward to making learning both engaging and rewarding.

Maya

Maya is currently studying Business Administration at the USC Marshall School of Business, with interests in entrepreneurship and real estate. She hopes to pursue a career in these fields and eventually start a business of her own. Maya enjoys helping students strengthen their problem-solving skills and become more confident in math. Outside of academics, she enjoys staying active and spending time with friends.

Brian Hood

Brian Hood is a Regional Director at Mathnasium and has a passion for helping young minds excel on their academic journeys. A native Virginian, Brian ventured to Singapore after graduating from university to pursue a Masters Degree in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. While there, he also discovered a joy for teaching while working with local students to improve their English and Creative Writing skills. After graduating, Brian moved to Los Angeles where he worked extensively in the educational field, including extended time as a private tutor, program coordinator, and Center Director of a prominent educational center. Brian is an extremely enthusiastic, optimistic, and driven individual who delights in seeing students learn and grow academically and strives to make their learning as fun and engaging as possible. In his spare time, he loves eating the most delicious food LA has to offer, collecting retro videogames, and exploring museums.

Dan Saposhnik

Dan holds a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Arizona and an MBA in Accounting from Hofstra University. He began his career as a CPA with Price Waterhouse and later built successful businesses in real estate and executive recruiting. 

With a family-rooted passion for education, Dan has taught and mentored students of all ages. As CEO and Owner of Mathnasium of Beverly Hills South, he is committed to helping children strengthen their math skills, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Laurie Saposhnik

Laurie earned a B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA and spent over two decades building a career with Fortune 500 tech companies. Inspired by her father, a dedicated special education teacher for over 30 years, she brings a lifelong commitment to empowering children through education. 

At Mathnasium, Laurie is passionate about helping students in the Beverly Hills community strengthen their math understanding and self-confidence. She also serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), advocating for the well-being of children in foster care and reflecting her deep dedication to making a difference.
