Larry Martinek has dedicated his career to revolutionizing how math is taught. With experience in public, private, and magnet schools, Larry has served as a classroom teacher and educational consultant. He designed Mathnasium’s curriculum, one of the most comprehensive programs for teaching math effectively. Larry has trained educators nationwide to improve students’ math ability and self-confidence.
While he doesn’t teach at our center, his guidance helps us support students more effectively. His work ensures Mathnasium continues to transform how students experience and understand math.
Afsheen Rizwan is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Birnham Woods. With an MS in Mathematical Economics, an MPhil in Education, and a recent degree in Business Administration, Afsheen brings deep expertise and passion for teaching math.
She has worked as a math teacher and curriculum specialist and has taught hundreds of underprivileged students through community outreach. Her mission is clear: “Every student can be a great math student with the right confidence.” Outside of Mathnasium, Afsheen enjoys reading and painting.
