Nick van Vliet

Operations Director

Nick earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from Cal State Northridge and joined Mathnasium in 2014 after being inspired by its impact on students. He served as Center Director in Irvine for two years before taking on the role of Operations Director, now overseeing four centers including Diamond Bar. 

Nick is committed to fostering an engaging and encouraging learning environment where students can build confidence, challenge themselves, and enjoy math. Outside of Mathnasium, Nick enjoys sports, snowboarding, BBQs, reading, and competing in just about any game you can think of. 

Sherin Yueksel

District Manager

Sherin graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. She first started at Mathnasium as an instructor in 2021. She was quickly promoted to Assistant Director and even helped establish Mathnasium of Valencia. Sherin has pursued a career at Mathnasium because she wants to make an impact in her community and she wants to help as many students as possible. She is passionate about creating a welcoming environment where every student feels comfortable, confident, and can strive for excellence. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, shopping, and making new recipes.

Angela Weng

Assistant Center Director

Angela recently graduated from Diamond Bar High School, where she completed AP Calculus AB and developed a strong interest in math. She plans to pursue a degree in Biology and has always enjoyed working with students. 

Angela brings experience from tutoring programs and summer volunteer work, where she helped students build foundational math skills. She looks forward to continuing that journey at Mathnasium. When she’s not working, Angela enjoys traveling, visiting cafes, and spending quality time with friends. 

Kris Phan

Instructor

Kris is currently enrolled at Chino Hills High School as a senior, where he has taken Trigonometry / Pre Calculus, and is currently taking Calculus AB. He loves tutoring and teaching to help children improve their skills, especially math! Kris also has prior experience tutoring students at Wickman Elementary School in varying grade levels, which led him to find a strong passion for teaching! Kris is also currently striving to become a teacher, to get a degree in education, and hopes to influence all the kids that he tutors so that they can strive in their lives as well. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, going out with friends, and occasionally watching anime.

Carly Knoles

Instructor

Carly is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Applied Math at Cal Poly Pomona. She previously worked as a tutor her senior year of high school, where she discovered her love for teaching and helping others, especially with math! She enjoys its propensity for problem-solving and hopes that she can help students realize their love for math, just as she has. Carly graduated as salutatorian from her high school and is now the team captain of one of CPP’s esports teams. She enjoys playing video games, writing, and eating good food with friends.

Ethan Amado

Instructor

Ethan is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona. He also minors in mathematics and finds solving math-related problems to be fun. At Mathnasium, Ethan strives to help students discover the joy and excitement he experiences when solving math problems while deepening their understanding of mathematical concepts. In his free time, he enjoys going out to eat with friends, watching lots of movies and shows, and attending concerts.

Ryan Golonka

Instructor

Ryan is currently at Cal Poly Pomona studying for a bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics. Ryan has always been interested in math because he found that math was everywhere in some way shape or form. Ryan knows how to solve a Rubik’s cube and also can play the double bass, just not as well anymore. Currently in college Ryan is studying for the Putnam competition in December. In his free time, Ryan likes to play video games, watch very long videos, speedrun, listening to musicals, and meeting up with friends when they have the time.

Yongchong Yu

Instructor

Yongchong has an Associate’s Degree in Programming from Mt. SAC and is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree. He has been a tutor in college for four years and really enjoys helping students. Basic math is logical training and the foundation of analysis, and everyone can master it if they put their mind to it! Yongchong was a CSU Long Beach Archery team member and archery is the sport he used to de-stress. He also builds models and airbrushes them in his spare time!

Nicholas Felcher

Instructor

Nicholas recently received his associate's degree in data analytics and artificial intelligence. He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science at Cal Poly Pomona. Nicholas enjoys applying math to solve complex problems that he finds while coding. He enjoys helping others build up their problem solving skills in order to understand various concepts. In his free time, Nicholas enjoys playing video games, listening to music, painting, and spending time with friends.


Jahaira Ramirez

Instructor

Jahaira is a first-year student at Mt. San Antonio College currently taking Calculus II, and is pursuing an engineering degree filled with challenging and exciting mathematical problems. In high school, she was a tutor for the math club, where she discovered a love for both teaching and learning from other students. She hopes to share her passion for math with others and help broaden their horizons. Outside of school, she loves to bake, watch movies, karaoke, and spend time with friends.

Nathan Lin

Instructor

Nathan is a senior at Walnut High School with a strong passion for teaching and helping others succeed. What began as being a student at Mathnasium and casually tutoring friends grew into a deeper love for education, leading him to become an instructor at Mathnasium. Loving the logic and reasoning that math creates, he wishes to share and express it with his students. Outside of academics, he enjoys both competition and creativity. He spends his free time playing basketball, jamming on his guitar, or challenging friends to card games.

Joshua Wu

Instructor

Joshua is a senior at Diamond Bar High School who joined Mathnasium with the goal of helping younger students learn math concepts and develop life skills. As a prior Mathnasium student in middle school, Joshua loved the progression system of the tutoring center and was inspired to join their teaching methods. Joshua loves problem solving and hopes to apply mathematics with a desired major of bioengineering in the future. Besides academics, he enjoys both sports and music. In his free time, Joshua plays badminton and the oboe for his school and also wrestles at Mt.Sac.
