Kaitlin graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and began her career at a global banking institution in New York City. While working there, she learned about Mathnasium and was inspired to combine her love of math with her dream of owning a business. She opened her first center in 2013 and now owns four in the New York area.
Kaitlin is passionate about helping students transform discouragement into confidence. She loves watching students grow at Mathnasium and hopes each child develops the same love of math that she carries. In her free time, she enjoys exploring New York’s neighborhoods and traveling whenever possible.
RJ grew up in California and graduated from Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo with a B.S. in Mathematics. He has always loved math because every problem feels like a puzzle waiting to be solved. He understands that math can feel intimidating but believes every student has the ability to succeed with the right support.
At Mathnasium, RJ works to create a safe and welcoming environment where students can build skills and confidence. His goal is to ensure learners not only improve in math but also have fun while doing it.
Nicholas's tutoring and teaching experience spans from first grade to the college level. He has taught math, English, and social science to students in New York, Boston, and Los Angeles, boosting grades and test scores. His education includes philosophy studies at Tufts University and behavioral science graduate research at Boston University.
Raymond is a graduate of Queens College, with a B.A. in Mathematics Education. He’s currently teaching in the fall while devoting some time as well back with Mathnasium, where he's formed a bond with most of the students there for over 7 years. Ever since he was a child, he was always motivated to learn and challenge himself with math. But more importantly, he was more inspired to help those around him with understanding the subject as well. This passion for mathematics blossomed even further in high school, where he met his math teacher that eventually empowered him to pursue his teaching career. His work ethic and professionalism made Raymond hoping to follow in his footsteps, which he is currently still trying to achieve. Aside from math, Raymond’s main hobbies include watching animes, reading manga and manhwa, and following the NBA/MLB news and games.
Daniel is a graduate of Baruch College with a B.A. in Mathematics. From a young age, he loved finding creative solutions to problems, which naturally led him to his passion for mathematics. He found joy in helping classmates with challenging concepts and soon discovered how rewarding it was to see them succeed.
At Mathnasium, Daniel encourages students to embrace problem-solving with curiosity and persistence. In his free time, he enjoys music, gaming, and basketball, which help him stay balanced and energized.
Chuu is currently a senior majoring in Biological Science at Hunter College. Ever since she was young, she had a great interest in Mathematics and enjoyed challenging math problems. It is fascinating for her to study how numbers work and how problems could be solved with different approaches. Hence, she joined math clubs and participated in Mathematics competitions during her high school years. When she graduated from high school, she had a chance to volunteer as a Math and Science teacher at her school. As a result, she found a passion for teaching Mathematics. This opportunity gives her a wide experience in teaching and working with children. In her free time, she likes to play badminton and watch movies with her friends and family
Alice is a freshman at Hunter College pursuing degrees in Media Studies and Public Policy. She has always been interested in communicating with people of various ages and backgrounds, scoping their perspectives and supporting their individual goals. Being a former Mathnasium student, Alice aims to pass on the same joy and clarity for math to her students by connecting their established knowledge with new concepts. In her downtime, Alice loves learning different languages, from Spanish to American Sign Language to Chinese, trying new sports teams like fencing, and crocheting small plushies.
Benjamin started learning math at Mathnasium at a young age and is currently continuing to learn math through high school. He had a natural curiosity for the world around him and how things worked. This curiosity was further boosted when he joined as a student at Mathnasium. At Mathnasium he was inspired by his instructor's passion and interest for math. With the inspiration to pursue math by his instructors Benjamin decided to join math clubs and teams. Benjamin enjoys not only math but cooking, running, archery, comic books, and games.
Nishat Haque is a sophomore Biology major at NYIT, with plans to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant. She has gained valuable tutoring experience at Khan's Tutorial, where she assisted students in preparing for the Common Core and SHSAT exams. Nishat is passionate about teaching and finds fulfillment in helping students overcome challenges, deepen their understanding, and build confidence in their abilities. Outside of academics, she enjoys building Legos and playing Roblox, hobbies that allow her to engage her creativity and problem-solving skills.
Aron attended Saint George Academy and is currently a Sophomore at NYU pursuing a degree in Mathematics with a minor in economics. In high school, he did volunteer tutoring services for all subjects and is currently working at NYU as a math, chemistry, and biology tutor. He enjoys watching the growth and nurturing others' passion for math in particular, and hopes to get students to prioritize comprehension over memorization.
Maritza is a sophomore mathematics major at The City College of New York with a strong interest in STEM education. She has experience co-teaching science and art lessons for elementary school students where she discovered her passion for helping students learn through creativity and interactive activities. Maritza enjoys teaching because it allows her to make complex concepts easier to younger learners and pass on a sense of curiosity and eagerness to learn new topics. Outside of academics, she enjoys crocheting, painting, and anything that allows her to express herself creatively.
Shyla is a cybersecurity student at St. John's University who is passionate about making education accessible and engaging for everyone. She enjoys breaking down concepts into simple ideas and seeing growth not only in math capabilities, but with confidence. Her goal is to foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes favorable growth.
Liyana Islam is a current Computer Science student at New York Institute of Technology. She has experience tutoring Algebra to 9th and 10th-grade students, helping them work through homework problems and better understand challenging concepts. She finds it rewarding not just to witness that lightbulb reaction once students grasp a topic but also to see their confidence grow. She hopes to create a positive and inviting environment where students feel motivated to face and overcome challenges.
