Paul and Lisa have been part of the Mathnasium family for over 13 years. Lisa holds a B.S. in Business Management from San Diego State University and brings over a decade of experience in math education, including serving as a Center Director for multiple Mathnasium locations. Paul earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from UCLA and has more than 30 years of experience in engineering and computer science.
As parents of two college graduates, Paul and Lisa are passionate about helping students build confidence, strong problem-solving skills, and a lifelong appreciation for math.
Claire Duong is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, where she earned a degree in Child and Adolescent Development with minors in Mathematics and Business Administration. She has been tutoring since high school and has extensive experience supporting students with a wide range of learning needs.
Claire enjoys helping students feel confident and successful in math. Outside the center, she enjoys dancing, traveling, exploring Disneyland, spending time at the beach, and discovering new foods and fitness activities.
Noel is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, where he earned a B.A. in Psychology. This semester, he will complete the teaching credential program at CSU Fullerton. Noel brings over ten years of tutoring experience, including work with the AVID program.
Noel is passionate about helping students think critically and approach math with confidence. Outside of Mathnasium, Noel enjoys dancing competitively, film photography, crafting, solving puzzles, and exploring creative hobbies.
Gavin is attending Saddleback College, where he plans to pursue a major in physics. He has enjoyed mathematics and the physical sciences from a young age and especially appreciates the logical structure and real-world applications of physics.
Gavin enjoys supporting students as they build confidence and curiosity in math. In his free time, he enjoys reading science books, spending time with family, and exploring new ideas related to science and technology.
Brandon is a student at Saddleback and Irvine Valley College with a strong interest in STEM subjects, particularly mathematics, physics, and chemistry. He participated in Mathcounts competitions during middle school and enjoys exploring the world through a mathematical lens while helping students build confidence and understanding in math.
Brandon is passionate about teaching and believes math is an essential skill for problem solving and everyday life. Outside the center, he volunteers with Lion’s Heart supporting local food banks. In his free time, Brandon enjoys thrifting, listening to music, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.
Hi everyone! I’m Sara and I recently graduated with a Statistics and Data Science degree from UC Santa Barbara. Like my fellow amazing instructors, my favorite subject has always been math, and I find so much joy in helping be part of the students’ learning journey! My work outside of Mathnasium consists of data analysis and project management for the HR department at the City of Long Beach. During my free time, I enjoy watching bad movies with my friends, petting my dog, eating nerds gummy clusters, working on 1000+ piece puzzles, and looking for brand new restaurants to try out!
Hi, I’m Caden and I'm a graduate of San Juan Hills High School and finished AP calculus as a senior. I am no stranger to math! In my free time, I enjoy tutoring my friends and my family. When it comes to working with kids, I love the social aspect and meeting new students, as well as making sure they reach their desired goals. Outside of school, I love seeing movies, eating food, and hanging out with friends!
Hi, I’m Harika and I am a junior at San Juan Hills High School. Since I was young I have always had a passion for math and enjoyed learning about it. From being in math superstars to counting how much profit I made from a lemonade stand, math has always been such a fun part of my life. I also love to help people out and work with kids! I am currently a part of my high school's cheer team and love cheering on the sideline. I am also a current NHS volunteer and a part of the first co-ed group in Ladera Ranch. I love volunteering while spending time with friends and giving back to our community. In my free time, you can find me hanging out with my friends or at the beach!
Hello! My name is Avery, and I am a junior at Tesoro High School. I am currently enrolled in many clubs and I maintain a steady 4.6 GPA. Outside of school, I enjoy attending church for youth groups, leadership, and volunteering! I have loved math ever since I was young, making equations in my head to see how many chocolates can fit in a jar or find the price of something after a sale. I love tutoring friends and family in many different subjects such as math, science, english, and history. I also love to hang out with my family: my mom, dad, older and younger sister, and my cute, scruffy, little dog!
Hi everyone! My name is Charlie, and I am a Junior at Santa Margarita High School. Ever since I was little, I have loved math and learning how to be a better problem solver through math. I am involved in ASB, Model UN, various clubs, and I also volunteer once a week at Mission Hospital. I love to go to the beach, hang out with my friends and family, go to the gym, and cook new foods. I love being a tutor because I am able to share something I’m passionate about to children for them to grow and succeed!
Hi, my name is Oliver, and I am a senior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School with a strong passion for mathematics! I enjoy all areas of math, especially calculus, finance, and the stock market. Beyond academics, I enjoy helping children grow into confident, curious, and successful individuals. I believe investing in the next generation is essential, as they will one day become the leaders of our world! In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, line dancing, playing the guitar, and spending quality time with my family and three dogs!
