Matthew is a recent graduate of UC San Diego, and hails from Cerritos, the land of dairy. He is currently in training to pass various Actuary exams, and adores math as much as he loves helping others understand it. His favorite topics are first-order logic, probability, as well as groups. His goal is to aid students in building steady foundations in various mathematical subjects, and teach them in a way such that they face topics such as algebra or calculus not with fear, but with a smile!
In his spare time, he tries to finish James Joyce’s “Ulysses” (and hopefully will do so within this lifetime), listens to Oasis and K-Pop music incessantly, and is an amateur baker (his friends do a lot of the work). One fun fact about Matthew is that he can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under one minute.
Meet Parham Zahedi, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering at California State University, Long Beach. He began his academic journey as a Physics major with a Math minor. Alongside his studies, he is actively involved in research, which allows him to explore new ideas and apply what he has learned in meaningful ways.
Parham believes mathematics is not just a set of formulas or numbers—it is a universal language that allows us to understand patterns, solve complex problems, and push the boundaries of innovation. To him, math is the foundation of engineering and the key to unlocking discoveries in space exploration and beyond.
Outside of academics, he enjoys watching science fiction movies (his favorite is Interstellar), listening to music, driving, spending time with friends, cars, photography, and exploring new ideas. He likes combining creativity with discipline in everything I do.
Fun Fact: Parham has been practicing karate for over 10 years, and is a black belt and international champion.
Hi everyone! I am a senior attending Millikan High School, planning to major in Chemistry. I believe math is the way to everything, from calculations on the food you eat to all the challenges you can count to beat. I enjoy playing video games, listening to the thoughts of others, music, and tennis. I also speak Spanish!
Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
