Ira is the Owner and Managing Director of Mathnasium of Maple Valley. She holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science, a Bachelor’s in Statistics, and has explored Actuarial Science. Ira was first introduced to Mathnasium as a parent, when she enrolled her son and witnessed firsthand its impact.
With prior experience as a software engineer at Microsoft, Ira understands how foundational math skills apply across all careers. She’s committed to bringing the Mathnasium Method to her community and believes every child can enjoy math—once it finally makes sense. Ira lives with her husband, two children, and a Samoyed.
Fatema is pursuing a degree in data engineering. She previously earned a degree in Management Information Systems. Throughout high school, she excelled in mathematics and earned multiple gold medals in international competitions such as the World Mathematics Invitational, American Mathematics Competition, and Asia International Mathematical Olympiad. She also achieved a perfect score in SAT Math and has extensive experience teaching SAT to students. Fatema is dedicated to building strong connections with each student, taking time to understand their individual learning styles and needs. She takes pride in guiding them toward measurable growth and is committed to celebrating their progress at every stage—whether it’s mastering a new concept or building confidence in their skills. At Mathnasium, Fatema enjoys helping students strengthen their problem-solving abilities and making math feel relevant to everyday life. Word problems are her favorite, as they demonstrate how math can be used to understand and solve real-world challenges. Outside the classroom, Fatema loves reading—especially historical fiction—and enjoys exploring stories from different times and cultures.
Brendan studied mathematics education at Pacific Lutheran University. He enjoys making math engaging through puzzles and creative problem-solving, encouraging students to think critically across different mathematical concepts.
In his free time, Brendan loves playing board games with friends and family and reading. His favorite type of math involves puzzles, which challenge him to apply knowledge in innovative ways and think outside the box.
Aiden is currently an undergraduate at the University of Washington, pursuing a double major in Biology and Law, Societies, and Justice, with a minor in Bioethics. He’s passionate about lifelong learning and plans to attend medical school in the future.
Throughout high school and college, Aiden has studied advanced math and enjoys supporting students in tackling complex and nuanced topics. He believes anyone can succeed with the right support and takes pride in guiding students on their educational journey.
Ryan is a first-year student at Green River College, studying mechanical engineering. He completed several college-level courses in high school and has always found math to be his strongest subject.
He enjoys teaching math the Mathnasium way—making concepts more approachable and fun. Ryan’s favorite branch of math is geometry because of its puzzle-like nature. Outside the classroom, he enjoys playing tennis, video games, and board games.
