Ms. Megan Lawrence

Senior Instructor

Megan holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Middle School Math and brings over three years of classroom teaching experience to Mathnasium. Having struggled with math herself as a child, she understands the importance of making lessons approachable and engaging.

Her passion lies in helping students who find math difficult discover their confidence and even joy in the subject. Megan is committed to creating an environment where learning is enjoyable and students can thrive. She looks forward to continuing to share her love for math and education with every student she meets.

Mrs. Nirupa

Nirupa holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering and discovered her love of teaching while working as a lecturer in India. Growing up, math and science were her favorite subjects, and she believes math builds critical thinking and problem-solving skills that benefit students for life.

At Mathnasium, she shows students how math is useful in everyday routines, from cooking to travel. Her approach helps students see math as practical, while also boosting their confidence. In her free time, Nirupa enjoys crafting, gardening, and cooking.

Mr. James Millikan

At Mathnasium, James enjoys seeing students grow in understanding and confidence through their math studies. Outside of teaching, he loves hiking, biking, and spending time with friends and family. He is also a longtime Seattle Sounders fan and enjoys sharing math puns with his students.

Mr. Aidan

Instructor

Hi! I'm Aidan,

I'm passionate in helping students not only improve their skills but also develop confidence and enjoy math. I've always been drawn to math due to the logical nature of the problems, and I hope to help students of any grade level succeed. Right now, I'm attending Everett Community College in pursuit of my associate's degree in business/finance. All throughout high school, I enjoyed helping my classmates with their coursework in math for the sake of gaining a better understanding of the material. I know that every student learns differently, and for that reason I value adjusting my teaching style to fit your child's individual needs.

Mr. Judah

Instructor

Hi, I’m Judah,

I love the logical process of math. At first, math wasn’t my favorite subject, but that was because I didn’t understand it in a way that made sense to me. I like to really understand the “why” in math, rather than straight up “this is how it’s done.” Methods over memorization. I excel in my math classes (I took two at once in my second year of high school) and I'm currently taking Calculus I, which combines pretty much everything I've learned about math into one.

My favorite thing in math is Algebra, because it forms the basis of all higher-level math and solidifies the concept of equivalency. In my daily life, I love making music, writing stories, and playing games. Music and math are closely related - playing music builds from prior knowledge, writing music uses logic, and reading music requires lots of counting. You can be creative and a math person at the same time!

Mr. Gavin

Instructor

I love learning and teaching math concepts as they can help us view the world and the universe. Currently I’m working on a Physics degree at University of Washington Bothell, where I’ve worked on a Physics Education Research project. I’ve studied how students think through problems and have learned what to teach them to help them succeed. I’ve also taken many math courses so I know what topics are most important for students to learn well. I like to make math more fun by introducing easier and faster techniques to help students feel more confident about math.

Ms. Angy

Instructor

Hi I'm Angy,

Math has always been a staple in my life. Ever since I was a kid, I've loved exploring the many different ways to solve a problem. Figuring out the processes behind equations and problems has always fascinated me!

Ms. Hannah

Instructor

Hi! I'm Hannah,

For as long as I can remember, I've always been drawn to math. Even before enrolling in school, I found math enjoyable and exciting. Due to admiring math so much, my teachers would always ask me to assist other students with their work. Knowing that I can help others in growing confident and comfortable with math brings me great joy.

Brian Huynh

Instructor

Hi! My name is Brian,

I have always been drawn to teaching and sharing my knowledge, especially in math because I could explain it well. Math appeals to me because it’s a subject where building up your knowledge-base of equations and reasoning feels tangible and practical, making it easier to feel accomplished at each new step.

A little about me: I am a fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Western Governors University. On the side, I have been studying data science topics in order to compete in Kaggle competitions. I have been a math tutor while in Edmonds College for 6 months and teacher’s assistant for three different teachers during my senior year of high school. Today, I am excited to be teaching the students of Mathnasium!

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.
