Rachel Richman

Rachel holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Endicott College and began her Mathnasium journey as an intern in 2020. She quickly became Assistant Center Director, bringing creativity, care, and energy to her students every day. 

Rachel enjoys biking by the beach, skiing in winter, and spending time with her dog, Gizmo. She loves helping students discover that math can be both fun and rewarding! 

Sam "Sully" Sullivan

Sully holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and brings both technical expertise and a love of teaching to Mathnasium. 

After nearly six years as an instructor, Sully now leads with enthusiasm and humor. Outside of work, he enjoys strategy games, board games, and sharing laughter with students and teammates alike. 

Mary M.

Mary earned her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, focusing on computational modeling for sustainable materials. She also teaches college-level math at Endicott College. 

She’s passionate about making STEM engaging and accessible for learners of all ages. Outside the classroom, Mary enjoys inspiring curiosity through creative science communication and lifelong learning. 

Abby D.

Abby is a Civil Engineering major at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a midshipman in the NROTC program. She combines her passion for STEM and leadership as she trains for a future Navy career. 

At Mathnasium, Abby loves helping students build confidence and curiosity in math. Outside of class, she enjoys running, paddle boarding, and playing flute in the WPI Philharmonic Orchestra. 

Andrew B.

Andrew has demonstrated a profound passion for mathematics over the years, culminating in his participation on the Eastern Massachusetts Regional Math Team and competing in the American Regional Mathematics League during his junior and senior years of high school. After high school, he embarked on a journey to attain a bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Brandeis University, effectively melding his love for math and technology. During his leisure time, he dedicates himself to a project that he holds dear to himself – translating children's books into various languages. His aspiration is to leverage the knowledge he has acquired to foster unity and create a positive impact in the world through his current and future projects.

Haywood S.

After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Vermont, Haywood has been eager to share his passion for math with learners of all ages. He believes that anyone can succeed in mathematics with the right tools and guidance. His teaching emphasizes building intuition and understanding the fundamental principles of the subject, helping students develop both confidence and curiosity.

Beyond the classroom, Haywood’s interests include music and art. During his studies, he was especially drawn to exploring the fascinating intersections between math and music, and how each discipline can illuminate the other. With experience teaching math at every level, Haywood is always excited to engage students in meaningful conversations about mathematics – no matter their starting point.

Ian M.

Ian is an experienced and dedicated Mathnasium Instructor with a passion for teaching and a talent for making learning fun. With a background in statistics, composition, and computer science tutoring, Ian has spent over 8 years helping students of all ages and levels master the intricacies of math. Ian firmly believes that bringing math into real-life examples, and even fictional scenarios, is crucial for engaging students and making learning enjoyable. With his infectious enthusiasm and creative approach to education, Ian has transformed the lives of countless students, helping them unlock their potential and achieve their academic goals.

Jacob J.

Jacob’s strong problem-solving skills, passion for learning, and fascination with numbers led him to pursue advanced coursework early in his education. Now a college student studying engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Jacob continues to build on that foundation as he hones both his technical and leadership abilities. His experiences mentoring younger students around the North Shore have shaped his ability to teach, guide, and inspire others, and he remains committed to the belief that a strong understanding of math is key to success in life. Outside the classroom, Jacob enjoys time with family and friends, playing chess, and staying active in communities that challenge his intellect and creativity.

Javare P.

Javare has been inspiring and bringing joy to our Mathletes since 2019, both in-person and virtually through Mathnasium@home. Javare is a former Gordon College student turned graduate of the University of Maryland where he studied Physics and Engineering. He currently works at a law firm in Boston and is simultaneously preparing to start Law School. In his free time, Javare loves building things and engaging in sports activities.

Jim A.

Jim Aloisio founded Mathnasium of North Beverly in 2011 and now works as an Instructor, continuing to utilize his passion for teaching math and for helping young people. Jim and his wife, Mary, have been married for over 30 years and have three kids who are now grown, out of college and living on their own. When his children were growing up, he and Mary were very active and involved in their education and extracurricular activities. Mary was an officer of our local PTA for many years and Jim coached soccer and baseball. Being involved in the community has always been an important part of their lives. Over his years as a professional, he has had many diverse experiences from business owner and executive manager, to Math Teacher and Department Head of the Gloucester High School Mathematics Department. In 1997 he volunteered his time designing systems to evaluate MCAS data for the City of Gloucester. During this time he developed a strong bond with several teachers and administrators and began to consider teaching. In 1998, he made the leap from businessman to math teacher in the Gloucester Public Schools. It was one of the best decisions of his life. For ten years, he taught math first in the middle school and high school levels, going on to become Head of the High School Math Department. During this time he taught every course the department offered, which brought out his passion for teaching and helping young minds grow, and ultimately led to his decision to open Mathnasium of North Beverly.

Joey L.

Liam C.

For as long as he can remember, Liam has loved studying science and mathematics and is always eager to learn something new. He recently graduated from Clark University with a degree in physics. At Clark, he completed multiple research projects, including one where he programmed several complex physical simulations.Outside of academics, he also played for his school's quidditch team, the Ravenclarks, as a beater. Liam's future goals include pursuing his doctorate in physics, with the ultimate goal of becoming a professor and teaching his own course. In his spare time, Liam enjoys reading horror and fantasy novels, playing video games, and running his Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

Nora K.

Nora is currently studying Mathematics at the University of Maryland and is passionate about mentoring and helping students reach their full potential. As a Mathnasium Instructor since 2020, she combines her love for STEM with her enthusiasm for working with children. Inspired by her mother's work in healthcare, Nora hopes to pursue a career that will allow her to help others. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

Patrick M.

Patrick is a driven and ambitious young man with a passion for learning and the medical field. Currently pursuing a degree in Biology and Public Health on the Pre-Med track at Villanova University, Patrick is focused on achieving his ultimate goal of becoming a Cardiothoracic Transplant Surgeon. A native of the North Shore, Patrick's academic achievements are impressive, having taken college-level math and Spanish classes while still in high school at Rockport High School. During his high school years, Patrick also served as the President of the RHS National Honor Society, a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, Torch and Laurel Honor Society member, and was a Drum Major for the Rockport High School Music Department. Throughout his academic journey, Patrick has also devoted himself to working with students of all ages, covering topics ranging from Computer Science and Robotics to Mathematics and Music. His dedication to education is matched only by his love of music, which he plays in his free time when he's not busy with his Arabic studies or his research in the field of medicine. With his vast array of interests and boundless curiosity, Patrick is a true force to be reckoned with and a source of inspiration with the students he teaches and mentors.

Sam M.

Sam earned his BS Chemistry with an additional degree in Graphic Design. By day, Sam is a distinguished researcher, and by night, he transforms into a stellar Mathnasium Instructor, imparting his knowledge and passion for math to eager young minds. With over 6 years of experience as a Mathnasium Instructor, his boundless enthusiasm and unwavering commitment to spreading the joy of math is a testament to his character and dedication to the arts and sciences.

Xi Z.

Xi (pronounced "See") is an honors student majoring in Mathematics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Having tutored students since high school, she has always enjoyed engaging with children and is constantly inspired by their creativity and inquisitive nature. She firmly believes that with proper guidance and instruction, every student can discover their own unique path to success in math. For Xi, mathematics is not just a crucial life skill but also a discipline that sharpens the mind and aids in personal growth, and she relishes the moments when mathematical concepts help solve real-world problems. Beyond academics, Xi is passionate about sports, especially track and spinning. She believes that physical well-being significantly influences academic performance. In the coming year, she aspires to become a spin instructor.
