Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Rebekah Padilla

Instructor
Math has always been one of my favorite subjects because it challenges me to think unconventionally and creatively. There may be numerous ways (the fun part) to solve a problem but in the end there's usually only one right answer. Mathnasium is a very lively environment and one of the reasons I like working here is because I have the opportunity to change peoples perspective on math. Math becomes much more simple and fun with a little bit of practice and effort. My favorite number is 21 because it looks prime but it's not and also because it's my birthday date. I am very skilled in the kitchen! I love discovering new recipes and trying new foods. I love to be outdoors; I'm either playing tennis, walking my dog, reading outside or having a bonfire.

Maya Iyer

Instructor
I like math because it challenges me to think creatively and there are so many concepts to learn. I like instructing at Mathnasium because I will be able to share my love for math and help others. My favorite number is 11 because I was born on the 11th. A fun fact about me is I do cross country and want to do a half marathon this summer. If I wasn’t teaching or doing math, I would be playing soccer outside with my friends because it’s my favorite sport.

Justin Zheng

Instructor
Hi I'm Justin! I am currently a student at William Fremd High School. I love math because it is universal and structured. I also love sharing math knowledge to other people, which is a main reason why I like instructing at Mathnasium. A fun fact about myself is that I memorized 50 digits of Pi. I also love music, so you can find me practicing piano when I'm not doing math.

Alex Drews

Instructor
I like math because I love problem-solving and puzzles. I like instructing at Mathnasium because it allows me to make people excited for math. My favorite number is 42 because it is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything. A fun fact about me is that I play chess. When I am not teaching you will find me studying hard at Harper College.

Krish Raval

Instructor

Hi I’m Krish! I love math because it challenges me to think logically and creatively at the same time. I enjoy how math connects ideas in unexpected ways and shows how reasoning can explain a lot about the world around us. I enjoy teaching at Mathnasium because I love seeing students truly understand math as a whole rather than just memorization. My favorite number is phi (φ) because although it is an irrational number, it represents the golden ratio that is found in nature, art, and more, representing proportion. A fun fact about myself is that I have performed at the Chicago Symphony Center as well as the Ravinia Music Festival. If I’m not doing math, you can find me playing along to songs on my drum set or playing basketball with friends!

Sam Wang

Instructor

Hi, my name is Sam and I go to Palatine High School. I enjoy math as it feels amazing to get difficult problems right and understand topics conceptually! I really like instructing at Mathnasium because it reminds me of when I help my friends with math, which is always a fun time. My favorite number is 31 because I share that number on my volleyball jersey with my little sister who plays soccer. A fun fact about myself is that I can do a front flip, a back flip or a gainer off a diving board! If I’m not teaching math, then you’ll find me playing volleyball or one of my two instruments.

Omer Aytekin

Instructor
My name is Omer Aytekin. I like math because it’s like solving puzzles. There's always a logical path to follow, but also different ways to think about a problem. It’s satisfying when something clicks and suddenly makes sense. I really enjoy working at Mathnasium because I get to help students build confidence in something that can feel tough at first. Seeing that moment when a student understands a concept they’ve been struggling with is the best part of the job. My favorite number has been 2 ever since I was a child because it feels very versatile. It is used a lot and it has been my soccer jersey number ever since I have started playing. A fun fact about me is that I am half Turkish. If I’m not teaching or doing math, you’d probably find me playing soccer, hanging out with friends, or spending time outdoors. I like staying active and doing things that help me recharge.

Amira Salamah

Instructor

Hi, I am Amira Salamah. I love math because it can help us make sense of the world around us. I like instructing math because it allows me to help students make sense of complex concepts and make learning more enjoyable. My favorite number is 0 because it isn’t worth anything, but is still one of the most important numbers in math. A fun fact about me is that my favorite flowers are sunflowers. If I wasn’t teaching or doing math I would probably be baking, because it helps me relax.
