Instructor

Michael recently moved from South Carolina to California and is beginning his studies in Computer Science and Engineering at UC Irvine. He has a strong interest in STEM, enjoys problem-solving, and is excited to bring his energy to Mathnasium. 

In his spare time, Michael enjoys going to the gym, practicing taekwondo, and trying new outdoor activities. He’s looking forward to meeting new people and making California his home.

Kayla W.

Instructor

Kayla is a Computer Engineering major at California State University, Long Beach. She’s always enjoyed the challenge and logic behind math and loves helping students build their confidence in the subject. 

Outside of Mathnasium, Kayla enjoys playing the piano, reading, and gaming. She brings a patient, supportive approach to every session and is excited to make math both fun and rewarding for her students.

John W.

John is a student at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, now learning Calculus, and happy to teach students at Mathnasium! John’s been passionate about math since elementary school, and has known he loves to teach for even longer! Having been through multiple tutoring programs through his younger years, he brings his knowledge, experience, and emphasis on patience and excitement understanding math to teaching. John works well with children of all ages, always finding time to connect over things like video games or how tough school can be. In his free time, John’s part of his school’s robotics team, and loves to work out and take care of his hair.

Nick K.

Director of Operations

Nick is currently enrolled in the teaching credential program at California State University, Long Beach with aspirations to teach 5th, 11th, or 12th grade. He has been tutoring students in math since 2021, working with learners from grades 1 through 11. 

Nick also spent eight years as an after-school skateboarding instructor, giving him extensive experience working with kids of all ages. He enjoys making math approachable and fun, and in his free time, he likes going to concerts and spending time with friends.

Andrew B.

Founder

Andrew is a Palos Verdes native and recently moved back to the community after living in Chicago & New York. He studied math at Dartmouth College and is currently pursuing a M.Ed. in his free time. He also coaches the PV High Swim team (Go Sea Kings!) and has been instructing and coaching students for the last decade! With a strong passion for math and education, his goal is providing every student at the center with an effective, engaging, and encouraging learning experience that cultivates an intuitive understanding of math and learning.
