Explore Math Through Art: Cubism Math Activities 🎨➕
It’s International Artists Day and Pablo Picasso’s birthday this Saturday, which means it's the perfect time to celebrate how math and art come together! ❤️
A little about Cubism: Pablo Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, co-founded the Cubism movement. Cubism breaks objects into geometric shapes and reimagines them from multiple perspectives — a style that perfectly combines creativity with mathematical thinking.
We’ve created a fun Cubism Math Activity Pack your child can enjoy at home or in the classroom. These hands-on activities blend creativity and geometry, helping kids see math in a whole new way:
✨ Download the pack for five different animals to practice with!
Instructions
- Draw basic geometric shapes (like triangles, rectangles, and circles) over the animal photo to break the image into simple shapes and create a more abstract version of the animal.
- Re-draw the animal in the empty square on the right using your shapes, in the style of Cubism.
- Add color! Use bold or unexpected colors, just like the Cubists did.
Example

Each printable sheet encourages your child to explore shapes, angles, and symmetry — all while discovering the artistic style that changed modern art forever.

👉 Download, print and complete the Cubism Math Activity Pack.
Once your child completes their Cubism-inspired artwork, share their masterpiece with us on social media — we’d love to see their geometric creations! Mention and tag us: @Mathnasium.
Let’s celebrate creativity, curiosity, and the beauty of math in art. 🧮💫
Happy International Artists Day from all of us at Mathnasium! 🎉
