Nigam Mehta is the Owner of Mathnasium of Rockaway and brings more than 18 years of experience in the high-tech industry, including leadership roles at companies such as IBM and Ericsson. He holds a master’s degree in Computer Science and has long supported students through tutoring and academic coaching.
Nigam believes that strong math skills are essential for problem solving and future success. As a parent of two sons, he is passionate about helping students build confidence and understanding through personalized instruction. He also enjoys building relationships with schools and community organizations to support local families.
Nick Mateo is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Rockaway and holds a Bachelor of Science from NJIT. His background includes nonprofit leadership, entrepreneurship, and strategic partnerships, most recently serving as Director of Partnerships at an organization focused on college and career readiness.
Nick is deeply committed to student growth through education, mentorship, and family engagement. He believes that confidence in math empowers students far beyond the classroom. Known for his collaborative leadership style, Nick enjoys helping students develop critical thinking skills while building meaningful connections with families and the surrounding community.
Nate Hong is an instructor at Mathnasium of Rockaway with a strong enthusiasm for learning and teaching mathematics, particularly geometry. He has completed advanced coursework in calculus and statistics and enjoys exploring how mathematical concepts connect across different subjects.
Nate is passionate about helping students build confidence through clear explanations and thoughtful problem solving. He believes that math can be both challenging and enjoyable when taught the right way. Outside of Mathnasium, Nate continues expanding his academic interests and looks for new ways to share his appreciation for mathematics.
Diya is an instructor at Mathnasium of Rockaway who is passionate about helping students develop practical math skills for everyday life. She is an active peer math tutor and participates in student leadership, athletics, and academic clubs, including medical and government programs.
Diya believes that algebra and logical thinking are essential tools for future success and enjoys helping students strengthen both understanding and confidence. Known for her energy and dedication, she creates a supportive learning environment. Outside the center, Diya enjoys sports, leadership activities, and finding new ways to apply math beyond the classroom.
Trina is a student at the Academy for Math, Science, and Engineering with a strong background in math, science, and research. She has tutored through local nonprofits, led research with the New York Academy of Sciences, and currently interns at NJIT on machine learning projects.
Trina is passionate about empowering students through education and believes strong math skills open doors to future opportunities. She enjoys helping learners approach challenges with confidence and curiosity. Outside of Mathnasium, Trina fences for her school’s varsity team and enjoys movies, music, and exploring new academic interests.
Tanisha is a junior in high school and is apart of her schools Magnet Program with a passion for math and science! Besides teaching math, she enjoys listening to music, baking, and drawing. She is involved in Key Club, Magazine Club, Math Club, and DECA. Since she was little she has had a passion for math and she can’t wait to help others with their relationship with math!
Hello! My name is Devsi Patel, and I’m a student at Morris County School of Technology, where I study in the Academy for Finance and International Business. I have a strong passion for math and problem-solving, and love doing all things math! In addition to my academic work, I’ve gained experience working with younger students through volunteering and enjoy helping them build confidence in their skills. I believe that learning math should be motivating and engaging, and I strive to bring patience, encouragement, and clarity to every session. I’m excited to be part of the Mathnasium team and to help students grow their love for math, just as I have.
Rishi is a senior at the Academy for Mathematics, Science, and Engineering who loves robotics. He leads his local Scout troop, fences, and is an avid community volunteer. In his free time, he enjoys 3D modeling and painting.
