• Do you offer online tutoring?

  Yes. While Mathnasium of Roslyn does offer online tutoring, we focus primarily on in-center sessions. Our in-person, face-to-face instruction allows students to fully engage in a supportive group setting that many families prefer. 

  Most students choose to attend Mathnasium in person to take full advantage of our engaging learning environment.

• Is there a difference between online and in-person tutoring?

  No. Students who opt for online sessions receive the same personalized learning plans and face-to-face instruction in a supportive group environment and work with the same caring tutors they would meet in our Roslyn learning center.

• What math classes can your Roslyn tutors help with?

  We support students in grades 1–12 across a wide range of math subjects—from early arithmetic through Algebra and Geometry. Working with our specially trained math tutors in Roslyn, students build confidence, improve math performance, and develop a true understanding of math concepts.

  No. Whether your student attends sessions in-center, online, or in a hybrid format, the cost remains the same at Mathnasium of Roslyn.

• Why do you require an assessment for enrollment at Mathnasium of Roslyn?

  Each student starts their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment to help us understand their current skills, identify learning gaps, and uncover academic goals. These insights allow us to build a personalized learning plan that sets students on the best path to math success.

• How do you teach math? What curriculum do you use?

  At Mathnasium of Roslyn, we use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that combines personalized learning plans with proven instructional strategies. This approach is designed to help students develop deep math understanding, strengthen foundational skills, and gradually expand mathematical thinking, setting them up for success in the classroom and beyond.

• Does the Mathnasium Program follow what my child is doing in school?

  No, and that's by design! While your child's school curriculum is designed to move an entire class of students through the same material at the same pace, we recognize that this can cause issues for students who are either bored because they are ready for more, or upset because the material moves to fast.  

  The Mathnasium program is designed to meet students where they are, and help them move forward at a pace that they can handle. We do provide homework help to meet the immediate needs of students with regard to schoolwork, but our primary focus is to build an individualized plan that helps them either fill in those gaps or get ahead!

• Do you work with advanced students or with students who are struggling with math?

  Yes! Mathnasium of Roslyn supports students at all skill levels—whether they need to catch up, stay on track, or move ahead. 

  Students who are struggling with math receive caring, structured support to help rebuild foundational understanding, close learning gaps, and improve confidence. 

  Advanced students are offered enrichment and higher-level challenges that expand their skills and deepen their mathematical thinking.

• Do you work with homeschooled students in Roslyn?

  Yes! We welcome students in grades 1–12 from all educational backgrounds, including homeschooled students as well as those in public and private schools throughout Roslyn and surrounding communities.

• Do you help students with their math homework?

  Yes. Our tutors set aside time during sessions to help students with their math homework. We ensure they understand the material, reinforcing what they’ve learned and reducing stress at home.

• Does Mathnasium assign homework to students?

  No. At Mathnasium of Roslyn, all learning takes place during sessions under the guidance of our specially trained tutors. We focus on maximizing each student's time with us without assigning additional homework.

• Do you prepare students for standardized tests?

  Yes. We help students prepare for standardized and school-based math tests, including state assessments, ACT®, and SAT®. Our test prep includes personalized learning plans, targeted practice, and proven strategies to help students succeed.
