Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Andrew Kim

Lead Instrutor

Andrew earned his B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Philosophy from UCLA. His favorite math topic is number theory, and he enjoys helping students see the beauty and logic in mathematical structures. With over 20 years as a professional musician, Andrew also brings creativity and rhythm to his teaching, drawing on his experience composing and performing on violin, viola, flute, drums, and saxophone.

When he’s not teaching or composing music, Andrew enjoys gaming and exploring new ways to make math both fun and memorable. One of his favorite math jokes: Three statisticians go hunting and declare “We’ve hit it!” after their shots miss left and right.

Timothy Legge

Instructor

Timothy is passionate about topics like Fourier transforms and Bayesian inference, and he loves sharing that curiosity with students. He is involved in creative writing and research at UCSD, and brings a thoughtful, analytical approach to instruction. Timothy enjoys making connections between complex ideas and everyday learning, helping students feel confident tackling challenging concepts.

Outside the center, he enjoys listening to music and has collected wristbands for over a decade—often wearing around 20 at a time! One of his favorite math jokes is: Q: What did 0 say to 8? A: “Nice belt.”

Reina Pimental

Instructor

Reina’s favorite math topic is triangles, and she enjoys helping students understand the building blocks of geometry with patience and clarity. Outside of math, she is active in soccer, loves crochet, watches anime, and enjoys spending time with her cats. Reina brings both enthusiasm and a fun, supportive energy to her work with students.

A light‑hearted fun fact about Reina is that she collects fun socks and does not own a plain pair. She believes that a positive attitude and a bit of flair make learning math even more enjoyable for her students.

Noe Ibarra

Instructor

Noe is a full‑time student at Cal State San Marcos, where he studies biochemistry and enjoys exploring how science and math intersect. His favorite topics include calculus and integrals, which he helps students break down into understandable steps. Noe is patient and encouraging, working to build both skill and confidence in every learner he supports.

Outside Mathnasium, he enjoys hiking, photography, and driving scenic routes. One of his favorite math jokes is: Q: Why did the obtuse angle go to the beach? A: Because it was over 90 degrees!
