Bill Garrett

Instructor

Bill loves working with young people, particularly in helping them reach their full potential with their math skills. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (BSEE), Stanford University (MSEE), and Michigan State University (MBA), and has had lots of experience applying advanced math to real-world problems, both technical and business-related. With extensive experience guiding students through high school math, including his own four children, Bill has developed a strong ability to explain complex concepts in clear, relatable ways that make learning both accessible and effective. In his spare time, he loves pickleball, water skiing, snow skiing, bowling, spending time with family, and staying involved at Cornerstone EPC (Elder, Music Ministry, Small Groups, etc.). For Bill, Mathnasium is more than just numbers - it’s a meaningful way to help kids grow into the capable, confident individuals they are meant to be.

Kaylee

Instructor

Working at Mathnasium has been an excellent fit for me, as I greatly enjoy working with children and mathematics has consistently been one of my strongest subjects. At South Lyon High School, I serve on the student council, where I have contributed to leading and organizing schoolwide events. In addition, I am an active member of the colorguard, UNICEF club, and debate team. Outside of school, I have provided tutoring support through the National Junior Honor Society and volunteered within the community to facilitate children’s craft events. These experiences have allowed me to engage with diverse groups of individuals while fostering their growth and development.

Eva

Instructor

I am currently a student at South Lyon High School. Before joining Mathnasium, I tutored a number of elementary students in my town, helping them improve their math skills and gain confidence. I joined Mathnasium because I love working with kids, and math has always been one of my strongest and favorite subjects. I especially enjoy the challenge of advanced math and exploring how problem-solving can apply to real-world situations. I stay actively engaged in the community through my volunteer work with my school’s Key Club. I also volunteer at the Lyon Township Public Library from time to time, where I help set up children’s activities and story times. In addition to Key Club, I am a member of my school’s debate team, multicultural club, UNICEF club, and Student Council.

Vaughn Westerman

Instructor
Vaughn is a calm, kind, and patient instructor who is deeply curious about how things work and enjoys helping students develop a genuine love for learning. During his time studying at Michigan Tech for his Computer Science degree, he explored advanced topics including Quantum Computing and Differential Equations.

Vaughn has learned throughout his life, from earning a black belt in Taekwondo, to playing jazz trumpet, to studying mathematics, that everything takes practice and patience. He hopes to offer students a low-pressure space where they can practice, make mistakes, and grow at their own pace.

When Vaughn isn't tutoring, he enjoys managing web servers, spending time with his family, and reading with his cat and a cup of coffee.
