Thomas comes from a family of educators and has dedicated his career to improving math education. After years in higher education, he saw firsthand how many students lacked essential problem-solving skills. During the pandemic, he homeschooled his children, advancing them two grade levels and discovering how personalized instruction transforms learning.
At Mathnasium of Suffolk, Thomas combines his experience with his passion for helping kids build confidence in math. He believes that even small, individualized attention can lead to big breakthroughs. His favorite number is e, the base of natural logarithms.
Jessica has loved math for as long as she can remember and is passionate about helping others develop the same appreciation. She joined Mathnasium of Suffolk on opening day and continues to be an integral part of the team. Currently majoring in Mathematics at Old Dominion University, Jessica enjoys seeing students experience their own “aha” moments.
Her favorite number is 4! because it’s both her lucky number and a fun mathematical expression. She’s dedicated to helping students build lasting confidence in math through encouragement and understanding.

Hiram is an aerospace engineering professional with over 23 years at Raytheon, specializing in radar and missile defense systems. A graduate of the University of Virginia, he uses math daily, from technical specifications to financial reports, and brings that real-world experience to Mathnasium.
He enjoys helping students connect classroom math to practical applications. Outside of work, Hiram loves auto racing, especially Formula 1, and spending time with his son, a George Mason University student, and his daughter, a third grader at Nansemond Suffolk Academy. His favorite number is 11, his birthday.
I am a student at Old Dominion University, majoring in Supply Chain, Logistics, and Maritime Operations. I have always been very inquisitive and eager to discover easier, more comprehensible ways to solve complex math problems. I am the oldest of 3 boys and have helped my younger brothers with their math homework since they started school! I am eager to give back to the Hampton Roads community by helping students on their math discovery! My favorite number is 100 because it reminds me of getting a good grade on an assignment!
I am a senior at Norfolk Academy. Math has always been my favorite subject, and I am currently taking calculus. I have one younger sister, and I often help her with her math homework. I participate in a few different math competitions throughout the year, and the CNU competition is one of my favorites, because the school assembles a group and we go together, which is always fun. My favorite number is 3, because it’s the magic number.
Math has always been my favorite subject and helping others has always been my favorite hobby, so I found myself helping others with math. I have enjoyed it every step of the way. On top of my job, I am always the first to get up in front of my class at school to help them understand the math concepts when they’re confused. My favorite number is pi because of its never ending numbers.
