Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Max

Assistant Center Director

Max loves making math "click" for students. With a background in finance, he enjoys showing how numbers connect to the real world, from everyday problem-solving, to big picture concepts in life, science, and finance. He brings a patient, upbeat energy to each session and takes pride in helping students gain confidence. Outside of tutoring, Max enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest, following markets, and relaxing with his ragdoll cats Bella and Sophie.

Tim

Director, Mathnasium @Home
Tim was born and raised in Spokane, Washington, and moved to Puyallup after getting married in 2020. He holds both a BA and MS in Mathematics from Eastern Washington University where he also loved being a math instructor for 10 years. Seeing students of any age have that light bulb moment when the concept they've been working on finally clicks fully for them is what Tim lives for. In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar and singing for friends as well as acting and singing in community theatre productions.

Narinee

Instructor

From Olympia, Narinee graduated from the University of Washington with a major in Information Technology and minor in Mathematics. Prior to completing post-secondary education, she spent roughly 8 years tutoring mathematics. When not working, she enjoys going on hikes, exercising, playing video games, dabbling with linguistics, and lounging with her cats.

Christina

Instructor

I began tutoring in college when I started helping local high school students with algebra and physics. Since then, I have worked with students from preschool though college level in reading, writing, math, and study skills, but tutoring math is my favorite. I believe that anyone can learn anything if given the right tools and motivations.

When I am not working, I like to read, obsess over my favorite TV shows, make home improvements, and I am trying to teach myself how to cook and play the bagpipes (not simultaneously).

Don

Instructor

Don is a Tacoma native, born with a passion for learning. A graduate from Central Washington University with a degree in Education and Mathematics, Don strongly believes in cultivating a Growth Mindset in students. He is a middle school math teacher who has taught all over the world, including Germany, Indonesia, and Paraguay. Don has made it his mission to break math concepts down and explain them in a way that everyone can understand. When he is not teaching, he is at home raising two wonderful children.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
