Mr. Rankin, Mrs. Koehler, Mr. Gray

Founders

Wayne Gray received a Bachelor of Science in education from Trenton State College in Trenton, New Jersey. He worked as a 5th and 6th grade teacher in the Toms River School District for 34 years, before “retiring” to open the Toms River Mathnasium Center. Wayne has an earnest love of education, especially in the field of mathematics, and has enjoyed bringing the Mathnasium methods to the children in his community. Wayne and his wife Barbara have three daughters: Kristie and Jesse have both followed in their father’s footsteps by becoming educators as well, and Lexi works for an employment agency.

Barbara Koehler holds a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education, a Master’s Degree in Education, and is certified as a reading specialist.  She also holds a certification in early childhood education. Barbara taught third grade for 15 years, followed by 17 years as a gifted and talented teacher for grades K – 6.   Barbara has a love of mathematics and teaching math. She has a desire to give students an opportunity to achieve success and improve their confidence in mathematics, which led her to open the Toms River Mathnasium Center.

Neil Rankin received a Bachelor of Science from Trenton State College, which is now known as The College of New Jersey. He taught 5th grade in the Toms River School District for 33 years, and retiring gave him the opportunity to open a Mathnasium Center in his neighborhood.   Neil enjoys helping students succeed by teaching them math in a way that makes sense to them.
