Michelle Z.

Michelle Zhou is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Yorba Linda. She graduated from Biola University with a degree in Theater and Theater Education, combining her passion for the arts with her love of teaching. Before joining Mathnasium, Michelle worked as a kindergarten teacher and a children's theater director. These experiences shaped her strong commitment to child development and creative learning. She is passionate about educating the younger generation in both the arts and academic subjects. As Center Director, Michelle's goal is to create a safe, warm, and encouraging environment where students can develop a genuine passion for math and learning. She believes that children build a lasting love of learning through problem-solving, as it fosters confidence, critical thinking, and perseverance. By strengthening their problem-solving abilities, students gain the skills and self-confidence they need to succeed in school and in their future careers.

Sophia P.

Sophia is a Lead Instructor and first-year student at California State University, Fullerton, majoring in Mathematics with a concentration in Teaching. She aspires to become a high school math teacher and loves seeing students light up when a tough concept finally makes sense.  

Building strong connections with learners and helping them build confidence through understanding is one of her favorite parts of teaching. When she’s not teaching, she likes drawing, singing, playing the ukulele, and winding down with books, music, or a favorite movie.

Jonathan S.

Jonathan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside, and brings over 10 years of experience in the tutoring industry. He loves helping students experience their “ah-ha” moment and believes that confidence in math is an important foundation for confidence in every aspect of life.

Outside the center, Jonathan enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time with his family. He loves being outdoors and appreciates the chance to disconnect from the busyness of everyday life and simply enjoy nature and quality time with the people he cares about most.

Jacob B.

Jacob is currently a third-year student at Fullerton College and will be transferring to California State University, Fullerton next semester to pursue a degree in Biochemistry. He enjoys helping students build confidence in math by breaking down challenging problems into manageable steps. He is passionate about making complex concepts easier to understand while helping students strengthen their problem-solving skills. Outside of tutoring, he enjoys golfing and camping.

Sophia L.

Sophia is a senior at Yorba Linda High School and hopes to pursue an education and career in something business related in the future. She has a strong passion for helping others and is committed to creating a welcoming environment for everyone. As an instructor, she is someone who is dedicated and enthusiastic and enjoys helping students learn and improve their math skills. Seeing the students develop critical thinking and gain confidence in their math ability brings her immense joy and satisfaction. Outside of Mathnasium, she is a member of her school’s newspaper and golf team and she enjoys hanging out with friends, trying different restaurants, and reading. Sophia deeply cares about the community and is committed to making a positive impact on the people around her. Sophia is a senior at Yorba Linda High School and hopes to pursue an education and career in something business related in the future. Gianni G.

Gianni is a fourth year student at cal state Fullerton finishing up his degree’s in finance and accounting. Gianni enjoys spending time with his family, friends and his church community. Gianni loves sports as well with his favorite football team being the Chargers and baseball team being the Angels. Gianni is honored to be able to work at Mathnasium because he enjoys building connections with students & staff members, alongside, helping their students grow in math!

Avienne C.

Avienne is currently a senior at Troy High School where she is taking business classes in hopes to study business in college. She enjoys helping students build their math skills while growing more confident. Avienne has a passion to creating a positive learning environment where students are comfortable to ask questions and challenge themselves. Outside of mathnasium, she loves spending time with family or friends, reading, baking, listening to music and watching a good show.

Antonia

Antonia is a 3rd year electrical engineering student who has been working with younger students for over 5 years. She believes that every student deserves to feel confident in their abilities and has the capacity to excel in math. She believes that this confidence relies on educators who truly care that their students succeed and meet them where they are at every step of their learning journey. Outside of Mathnasium, she enjoys exploring new places, working on creative projects, and spending time with friends and family.
