Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Katia Y.

Center Director

For over a decade, Katia has dedicated her career to working with children of all ages, each with their own unique strengths and challenges. Through her work with non-profit organizations and her leadership of nine after-school programs, she has developed a strong ability to connect with students and help them harness their potential. Her exceptional interpersonal skills have earned the trust and admiration of both parents and students. Katia is known for her empathy, dedication, and genuine commitment to doing what’s best for every child. Since the opening of Mathnasium of Yorba Linda in 2022, she has played an integral role in building a welcoming and supportive environment, forming meaningful relationships with the families and students she serves.

Katia is deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and considers it a privilege to contribute to the growth and success of its students each day.

Victor W.

Assistant Director

Victor is an alum of UC Irvine where he studied engineering and got his teaching credential at Cal Baptist University. While teaching high school math in NorCal he realized that the students that needed the most support, needed it at a stage much earlier than when they arrived at the high school level. His goals aligned with Mathnasium’s in meeting students where they currently are and supporting them to get to an appropriate level and beyond. In his free time, you can catch Victor at a Ducks game or playing online games with his friends.

Maya V.

Assistant Director

Maya serves as Assistant Director and brings a strong academic foundation to the team. She graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a degree in Space Physics, a second major in Astronomy & Astrophysics, and a minor in Applied Mathematics.

Currently, she’s pursuing a certificate in Computer Information Systems at Fullerton College. Maya has always enjoyed math for its logic and clarity. Outside of work, she’s passionate about calligraphy, crocheting, stargazing, and learning new languages, always expanding her skills in creative and meaningful ways.

Sophia P.

Lead Instructor

Sophia is a Lead Instructor and first-year student at California State University, Fullerton, majoring in Mathematics with a concentration in Teaching. She aspires to become a high school math teacher and loves seeing students light up when a tough concept finally makes sense.

Building strong connections with learners and helping them build confidence through understanding is one of her favorite parts of teaching. When she’s not teaching, she likes drawing, singing, playing the ukulele, and winding down with books, music, or a favorite movie.

Niki K.

Instructor

Niki has graduated from UC Riverside with a B.S. in General Applied Mathematics and is currently a first year graduate student at CSUF working to obtain her M.S. in Computational Applied Mathematics. She has around 10 years of tutoring experience in both K-12 and college level math, and has previously worked at another Mathnasium center for about 3 years. She has always credited her success in understanding math to her tutors growing up, and wishes to be the same influence to kids who are currently struggling now. Her passion in helping others and having them bridge the gap between the unknown and the "aha" lightbulb moment is what drives her to always come back to instructing. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts/music festivals, reading, and playing video games.

Ryan D.

Instructor

Ryan is currently attending Fullerton College and plans to transfer to a four-year university. He’s aiming for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, followed by an MBA in Business. While reflecting on his high school days, Ryan remembers the tough nights when he wished for extra help, which sparked his passion for tutoring. He believes that teaching others is an incredible skill to develop. With a strong appreciation for math, Ryan is working hard to become part of a community that helps everyone discover the joy of numbers.

Mahi V.

Instructor

Mahi is currently a third year student at CSULB working towards a degree in Biology. Using this degree, she hopes to pursue further education in forensic science. Different from her own experience in school, Mahi hopes to help students learn to be willing to ask for help in math. Her goal is to help students enjoy problem-solving and reduce any fear of math. Mahi has previous experience in both math and language tutoring. In her free time, Mahi enjoys arts and crafts, learning new languages, and travelling with family.
