At Mathnasium of Amersham, we use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach designed to help children of all skill levels build lasting maths mastery. Our approach combines personalised learning plans with a range of proven teaching techniques so we can tailor instruction to how each child learns best.
We focus on promoting a deep understanding of how maths works, developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills along the way that carry through every stage of school.
Our team of specially trained instructors work with students face-to-face in a supportive and fun environment, whether they join us at our centre on Hill Avenue or online via Mathnasium@home.
We work with students from Reception through to GCSE, helping them achieve their academic goals and transform their relationship with maths.
Every child at Mathnasium of Amersham begins their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment, designed to help us understand what they already know, where the knowledge gaps are, and how they approach maths.
From there, we build their personalised learning plan that closes those gaps in a logical sequence and at the right pace, so each new topic sits on solid ground rather than papering over what came before.

We work with children from Reception through to GCSE, ages 4 to 16, across all Key Stages from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to KS4.
Amersham families come to us at different stages of their children’s maths journey, some building solid foundations early, others focused on getting ahead or preparing for their GCSEs. Whatever your child's maths goal, we have a programme to fit.
Our instructors work with children across the full primary and secondary maths curriculum, from number, fractions, decimals and percentages through to algebra, ratio, geometry and statistics, at every level from KS1 through to KS4.
Each child follows their own personalised learning plan, so they can receive the guidance they need to advance in maths.
Private tutors typically provide support with short-term goals or challenges, such as learning a tricky topic or preparing for an upcoming exam.
While Mathnasium does provide homework help and targeted test preparation, our approach is structured and focused on the long-term goal of building maths mastery.
The student's Mathnasium experience begins with a diagnostic assessment, so we can understand their unique learning needs and style and build a learning plan around them.
Our instructors follow the Mathnasium Method™, a structured, consistent teaching approach used across more than 1,300 centres worldwide, so progress builds steadily rather than depending on what came up that week. Each session follows the student’s learning plan with time set aside for schoolwork.
Sessions take place in a supportive and fun learning environment, where children receive face-to-face maths support and build confidence to serve them in the classroom and beyond.
Instead of a one-size-fits-all curriculum, Mathnasium of Amersham uses the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach designed to help students truly understand and even enjoy maths.
Following this approach, our instructors combine mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written teaching techniques with assessment-based learning plans, so they can teach each child in the way that works best for them.
Sessions can also complement what children are covering in school under the National Curriculum, while steadily (re)building foundational knowledge and expanding their mathematical thinking.
Mathnasium of Amersham works with children of every skill level, whether they're catching up, keeping up with their year group or ready to get ahead.
When a child is finding maths difficult, the personalised learning plan ensures we start from exactly where they are and build forward at a pace that suits them, closing knowledge gaps methodically so nothing feels rushed.
Children going ahead of their year group get the same personalised approach, focused on enrichment that introduces them to maths beyond the school curriculum and keeps them motivated to go further.
Yes! Mathnasium of Amersham supports children preparing for the 11+, focusing on the numerical reasoning and problem-solving skills these exams test.
As entry requirements and timelines vary by school, we build every child's plan around their specific target school, leaving enough time to close any gaps before exam day.
Yes, our instructors support Year 10 and Year 11 children through their GCSE maths preparation, with a personalised plan built around their current performance, target grade and the topics where they most need to improve.
We cover the full GCSE maths curriculum, including number, algebra, geometry, ratio, probability and statistics, across both Foundation and Higher tiers.
Each child's Mathnasium journey starts with a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints their strengths, knowledge gaps and personal goals, giving us what we need to build a personalised learning plan that puts them on the best path to maths mastery.
Mathnasium of Amersham delivers premium-value tuition priced as a flat monthly membership fee rather than a per-session rate, much like a gym membership. Most children get the best results attending two to three sessions a week.
Following the diagnostic assessment, we will recommend a session plan tailored to your child's learning needs and goals.
Get in touch through the Contact Us button on this page or by emailing [email protected] to arrange a free diagnostic assessment.
After the assessment, we'll walk you through the results and the personalised learning plan we've put together for your child, answering any questions before sessions begin.
Assessment is commitment-free.
