Mathnasium is using the latest in cutting edge technology

Jan 7, 2026 | East Wichita

Mathnasium of East Wichita is making a big "high tech" move to improve your students learning experience.

Each student's learning plan is moving from the old paper binders to Apple iPad tablets.

Why the change?

  • Instructors can focus more on teaching instead of printing and sorting pages.
  • Students are already used to tablets.  Our "test" group of students caught on within minutes.
  • Students enjoy the experience and can be more creative with iPads compared to paper.

What the iPad tablet experience is NOT?

  • There are no videos to watch.
  • There are no "self teaching"  apps

What the iPad tablet experience IS:

  • The experience is the same interactive math teaching, across the table, from the same math instructors that students are used to.
  • The personalized math learning plan we created for your student (that was in their "paper" binder) is entirely moved to their iPad tablet.

How does it work?

  • Instead of a binder with paper, each student has a “folder” that stays at Mathnasium.
  • That folder contains a personal QR code they use to sign into the tablet. Then the iPad takes them to the last page they worked on at their last session.
  • When a student needs more material, instead of waiting for more pages to print, the instructor clicks a button and the pages are added to your student's iPad in just seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q.   We like the physical motion that's felt when my student uses a pencil to write out math work. Is that "physical" aspect going away?

A.    We agree that the physical interaction with a pencil is important.  That is not going away. Students will continue to hand-write their math work with a stylus made for the Apple iPad. The stylus mimics “pencil and paper”.

Q.    Our family tries to limit “screen time”.   Won’t the iPads have a negative effect?

A.    The screen time parents want to reduce is mindless video games.  At Mathnasium, our instructors are still interacting with students to teach math skills and problem solving.  The iPad is just the new material for students to practice the skills they're learning from our instructors.

Q.    Won't students be tempted to use the iPads to "ask Siri" or "Google" the answers to their math problems?

A.    All iPads are 100% Locked Down in “Kiosk” mode. That means they are not able to leave the Mathnasium material on the iPad.  And, just to be safe, all other apps have been removed from the iPad. (Yeah, we know kids can be creative!)

Q.    What happens to the STAR Cards?

A.    Students will still keep their physical STAR cards they've always had.

We are excited to offer the latest technology to improve the learning experience for your student.

Bottom line: Your students will stay more focused, have more fun, and progress faster at math with the iPad tablets.
