Rick brings a wealth of experience as a successful Wichita entrepreneur to his role at Mathnasium of East Wichita. Over the years, he has seen firsthand how math skills enrich lives and open opportunities. He holds degrees from Wichita State University and the University of Kansas and has always been passionate about helping others.
Rick is a hands-on owner who loves engaging with students and families. Outside of Mathnasium enjoys time with his wife Susan and also reflecting on his previous hobby as an instrument-rated pilot. Rick and Susan are proud parents of two adult daughters and grandparents of two grandsons.
Xavier attended Wichita State University and has both a strong background in mathematics and a passion for people. Xavier began as a Math Instructor as East Wichita. His skills and dedication have enabled him to move up to Lead Instructor, Assistant Center, and now Center Director at Mathnasium of East Wichita.
His favorite number is two, because it is the base of the binary system and the foundation of computer language.
When not helping students, Xavier enjoys cooking.
He loves Mathnasium because he gets to witness students change their attitude toward math, going from avoiding it to embracing math with confidence and enthusiasm.
Brody recently graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in German. He plans to pursue a master’s degree soon and brings a strong academic background to his role at Mathnasium. His favorite number is five, a nod to his sports jersey number growing up.
Outside of teaching, Brody is a percussionist who enjoys playing drums and unique instruments. He also likes bowling in his free time. He loves Mathnasium because it allows students to learn at their own pace through engaging, personalized techniques that build confidence and make math fun.
Ed earned dual bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and computer science from Wichita State University, followed by an MBA from Newman University. He brings both academic knowledge and a love for teaching to his role at Mathnasium. His favorite number is zero because, while it seems like nothing, it plays a vital role in math.
When he isn’t teaching, Ed enjoys whitewater rafting and has a unique background as an actor and dancer from a young age. He finds joy in seeing students who once disliked math develop an appreciation for it through the Mathnasium approach.
Sarah has spent the past decade teaching elementary school in classrooms around the world, including Tanzania, Malaysia, and Wichita. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in speech pathology at Wichita State University. Her favorite number is 24, which she enjoys for its flexibility in making equal groups.
Outside of teaching, Sarah loves rock climbing and surfing. She appreciates Mathnasium because it meets kids exactly where they are and uses methods that make sense to them. Watching students build new confidence in math is her favorite part of the job.
Joel is a sophomore at the University of Tulsa majoring in economics and minoring in political science. He plans to attend law school upon graduation.
FAVORITE NUMBER: “11” because it is both prime and symmetrical. FAVORITE MATH JOKE: Why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 7 ate 9! FUN FACT: I went to nationals for the Lincoln - Douglas debate in high school; twice. I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE I really enjoy seeing kids go from struggling at math to caught-up to excelling.
Hannah is a Junior at Wichita State University. She is currently majoring in fine art.
FAVORITE NUMBER: 13, it was the number of kids in her 8th grade class. FAVORITE MATH JOKE: Did you know that there are three kinds of people? Those who can count and those who can’t. FUN FACT: I really like spicy food. I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE: I really enjoy seeing students discover new ways to learn math.
Ashley is currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in psychology.
FAVORITE NUMBER: 10. It’s the beginning of something new. FAVORITE MATH JOKE: What numbers won’t sit still? Roman Numerals. FUN FACT: I love to create art; especially crochet. I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE: I’ve seen kids light up and their confidence grow when math makes sense to them.
Carsen is a junior at Wichita State University studying social work and plans on pursuing a masters in social work.
Favorite Number: “12”, because it’s his birthday. Favorite math joke: “Why was six so afraid of seven?” “Because Seven ate Nine!” Fun Fact: I enjoy working on and building computers!”
I love Mathnasium because: I get to meet kids where they are in math and help them feel better about themselves when they build their math skills!
Isabelle is a freshman at Wichita State University majoring in American sign language.
Favorite Number: 16 because it has always been my lucky number. Favorite Math Joke: Why did 7 eat 9? Because you’re suppose to eat “3 square” meals a day!
Fun Fact: I’ve played several sports; volleyball, cross country, track, and basketball.
I love Mathnasium because: It meets students where they are at and gives them the confidence to excel and understand math.
Adrian is a freshman at the University of Tulsa, where he is majoring in Math. We can't wait until he returns next Summer.
FAVORITE NUMBER: 23, because it is the number of his personal hero, LeBron James!
FAVORITE MATH JOKE: I have 288 math jokes in my repertoire, but I can’t share them because they are two gross.
FUN FACT: My ideal getaway car is a Jaguar Portfolio.
I LOVE MATHNASIUM BECAUSE: Mathnasium offers many incentives for students to learn, which changes their perspective towards math and education in general.
