Andrew
Instructor
Andrew is currently a student at Wauconda High School. His favorite subjects are AP Chemistry and AP Calculus BC. He enjoys performing in his school’s band and theater programs. His favorite number is 51 because it looks like it should be a prime number, but isn’t. In his free time, he builds Legos, cooks, plays logic games, and learns about the world around him.
Elliana
Instructor
Elliana is a senior at Grayslake North Highschool. Her favorite classes are AP Calculus AB and AP Biology. With a love for math, she loves to tutor and help students further their skills. She enjoys playing soccer and drawing in her free time, and reads a lot as well. Her favorite number is 7 because it is her birthday and has been her number in soccer for years.
Akshay
Instructor
Akshay is currently a Junior taking AP Calc BC at Grayslake Central High School. With experience in teaching a wide range of subjects, from standard schoolwork to more obscure topics like chess and karate, Akshay finds joy in witnessing the "light-bulb" moments when kids grasp new concepts, gaining both confidence and an appreciation for their hard work! He loves competition, being the captain of the school's chess team, and, of course, studying for math competitions. Akshay's favorite number is 7, because he has realized that whenever someone asks to guess what number they think of, it usually ends in 7. Outside of school, Akshay loves woodworking, reading, and relaxing (if he ever has the time to).
Trevor
Instructor
Trevor is a lifelong tutor with a deep passion for helping students grow. A McHenry High School Salutatorian, he began tutoring his peers early on and continued at the University of Iowa, where he earned his BBA as both a Business and Rhetoric tutor. After graduation, Trevor served as an AmeriCorps Member in Chicago Public Schools, tutoring math and teaching English for four years. Now back in the northern suburbs, he is committed to helping students build confidence, strengthen their academic skills, and discover a genuine love of learning.
From early childhood through high school, Wauconda's math programs are designed to support students at every stage of their math journey.
We introduce preschool and kindergarten learners to foundational math concepts through hands-on, playful instruction that builds number sense while fostering curiosity and confidence from the very start.
For students in grades 1–5, we focus on developing a solid understanding of concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals, making math clear and enjoyable.
We help middle schoolers navigate classes like Prealgebra and Geometry by breaking down abstract ideas into manageable steps in a supportive environment where understanding and confidence grow.
High school students receive targeted support for Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and standardized math test prep that positions them for academic success and future college admissions opportunities.
Students can take 3 easy steps to enroll at Mathnasium.
All students begin their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints what they already know and what they still need to learn.
